The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario's capital markets in accordance with the mandate established in the provincial Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act.

The mandate of the OSC is to provide protection to investors from unfair, improper or fraudulent practices, to foster fair, efficient and competitive capital markets and confidence in the capital markets, to foster capital formation, and to contribute to the stability of the financial system and the reduction of systemic risk.

This mandate is performed through policy, operational, adjudication and enforcement work. The OSC also contributes to national and global securities regulation development.

We offer a diverse, fair, and flexible work environment and take pride in our challenging and rewarding work.

As the capital markets rapidly evolve, regulators face fresh challenges driven by shifts in investor behaviour, technological innovation, demographics, and economic conditions.

At the OSC, we recognize the need to adapt and lead in this dynamic landscape. The OSC is embarking on a new strategic plan that will chart our course for the next six years. We are committed to fostering transparency, investor protection and market integrity. To achieve this vision, we have restructured our organization and are seeking exceptional individuals to join our team.

We are currently hiring for a Chief Audit and Risk Executive to join our leadership team and play a critical role in shaping the future of the capital markets.

We invite you to be part of this exciting change.

The Chief Audit and Risk Executive is a member of the senior leadership team responsible for the OSC's enterprise risk management (ERM), internal audit, and business continuity planning functions, and reports functionally to the Audit and Finance Committee of the Board as it relates to internal audit, and to the CEO on all other matters.

This executive role is critical in ensuring that the organization identifies, evaluates, and mitigates risks that could impact regulatory goals and objectives.

At the strategic level, the role helps enable a risk-based approach into balancing different elements of the OSC mandate.

  • Senior executive experience overseeing audit and risk management functions.
  • Substantial expertise and knowledge of capital markets, securities regulation, and regulatory operations.
  • Sound knowledge of, and experience in implementing internal audit, ICFR and ERM frameworks, policies, and processes, and a deep understanding of nonfinancial risk issues.
  • Conversant knowledge of technology risks, digitization initiatives, and be able to quickly get up to speed with an organization's IT environment.
  • Experience working closely with and reporting to Boards and Board Committees forging a collegial relationship characterized by candor and open communication.
  • Versatility in operating within complexity and ambiguity, and effectively navigating government directives and processes.
Grow your career and make a difference working at the OSC.
