Job Summary:

As a Technician Network Support (Enterprise Network Analyst), you will oversee LAN and WAN switches, routers, wireless, security devices and structured cabling to ensure that all Network connected equipment is fully operational.

This role on our Network Services team involves working with business unit and divisional staff and vendors, to maintain the effectiveness, availability, reliability and security of technology services.

Major Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibilities as Technician Network Support (Enterprise Network Analyst) will be varied

Specifically, you will:

Oversee routers, switches and firewalls to ensure all Network connected equipment are fully operational.
Analyze and interpret error codes, fault conditions and system responses to determine action required to return network to normal operation. Tracks network status to correct deficiencies using network monitoring equipment
Work with business unit and divisional staff and vendors, to maintain the effectiveness, availability, reliability and security of information technology services.
Monitor the information technology services and Infrastructure physical environment and operating conditions, to ensure performance, security and environmental control, to detect and investigate failures and deficiencies, and to develop and execute plans to correct these and/or escalate problems.
Respond to user problems/requests related to hardware, configuration and connectivity problems. Diagnoses and resolves problems associated with network connectivity.
Maintain and updates online database for tracking Network addresses.
Liaise with appropriate unit re: site inspections for relocations or relocation of individual network components. Packs, relocates and reinstalls computer equipment for office/ departmental moves. Reconfigures and rewires at the new location.
Liaise with Systems and Network Operation in the resolution of operational network problems.
Provide support for the Disaster Recovery Program through testing of the network components for recovery sites
Perform administration and operation of the Communications Network Infrastructure, including records maintenance, change control, address assignments, moves, adds and changes.
Move, configure and install computer systems, network equipment and related devices.
Participate in technical project teams to design, implement and provide support for Information Technology Services. Carries out changes to network hardware, associated microcode, infrastructure cabling and carrier services.
Create and maintains documentation related to network connectivity, including configuration diagrams.
Order and maintain inventory of network cards, cables, adapters and related cabling supplies.
Test wireless network connectivity within remote and campus sites that spans over multiple floors including but not limited to office space and warehouses.
Maintain current documentation of site status in Cisco DNAC, Cisco Prime and IPAM, complete trouble tickets and visit sites to resolve issue when required, and issue work orders to vendors
Maintain inventory of required equipment and perform regular audits to ensure availability of hardware as well as preparing hardware returns

Key Qualifications:

Postsecondary education in Data Communication, Computer Science, or Engineering, or an equivalent recognized network certification such as a CCNA or CCNP, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in LAN / MAN / WAN administration consisting of Cisco routers, switches, access points and firewalls deployed over Service Provider links utilizing various WAN technologies such as VPLS, MPLS and Ethernet LAN Extension services.
Experience in the implementation and management of Structured Cabling Systems for computer networked environments and overseeing the quality and completion of work by cabling subcontractors and vendors
Experience with all aspects of installing network equipment, including cable patching.
Experience in troubleshooting and supporting an enterprise network in a highly complex Microsoft Windows and UNIX environment.
Experience in engaging ISP to troubleshoot WAN related issues to resolve in a timely manner.
Must possess and be able to maintain a valid Province of Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and must qualify for the City's equipment operating permit(s) and requirements as required.
