Manager, Systems Development*

$78,070.60 to $105, classification under review)


Location:
Henlow Campus and/or remotely, as required


Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)


Reporting to the Association Vice President, Finance and Campus Services, the Manager, Systems Development is responsible to lead the design, development and testing of software development projects and to ensure projects are delivered with efficiency, accuracy and best practices.

The scope of this role extends beyond systems and technical abilities to people dynamics in a team-driven IT environment, providing mentorship and coaching to other technical development staff.

Additionally, they are responsible to oversee the growth of the organizations maturity in the efficient and effective delivery of system and process improvements and advance the strategic commitments, delivering results and identification and management of risk.

This role is key providing leadership across the organization, acting as a strategic advisor and business partner to all areas and oversees requests for services through the ticketing system, and ensures SLAs are met in a timely fashion.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead the development and lifetime maintenance of software products, managing continuous improvement within the software product lifecycle from creation to acquisition to disposal;
  • Manage and supervise personnel and complete all administrative functions for staff (i.e., talent management; performance management, which includes annual reviews/discipline; training and professional development; and time management).
  • Develop, design, architect and test code in accordance with industry best practices;
  • Act as technical lead and communication conduit between Senior Management and the Software Development Team, providing regular status updates and working collaboratively to coordinate business objectives;
  • Provide mentorship to the Software Development Team, enabling them to perform and seek development to grow their skillset by setting goals, providing feedback, evaluating performance and coaching progress;
  • Active member in the IT Council advise MITT Executive Council on matters related to maximizing the benefits of investments in Information Technology (IT) consistent with the strategy and risk appetite of the institution;
  • Improve processes and practices to improve team efficiency in delivery;
  • Perform quality assurance, system integration testing and user acceptance testing functions;
  • Manage the release and deployment management process, supporting deployment;
  • Provide consideration and options beyond immediate requirements to ensure future extensibility of Software Development projects.

Required Qualifications and Experience*:

  • A combination of related education and experience may be considered._
  • Postsecondary degree/diploma in computer science or equivalent combination of education, training and work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in managing staff
  • Advanced[JL1] knowledge with Microsoft.
NET, SQL combined with HTML, CSS and Javascript experience

  • 5+ years of software development experience with.
NET technologies, including business/systems analysis and design support experience

  • Ability to work with a variety of stakeholders to identify and understand highlevel user requirements
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and project tracking software
  • Experience with Agile development concepts and environment
  • Strong understanding of objectoriented programming
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN
  • Creative and analytical thinker, with the capability to capitalize on the use of technology tools
  • Demonstrated decisionmaking ability, independent judgement and ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong organizational, relational, problemsolving and analytical thinking skills

Preferred Qualifications and Experience*:

  • Knowledge and experience with VB.NET, WebForms, and Microsoft SQL Server considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of modern.
