Position Description:


Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Global Partnerships & Education, with a dotted-line reporting relationship to the Deputy Registrar, Admissions & Domestic Recruitment, the
Operations & Finance Manager is responsible for providing senior level leadership, comprehensive financial and operational management, expertise and support for diverse portfolios within the Global Partnerships & Education division, which is an essential revenue-generating unit, and contributor to institutional reputation and profile, for the College.


Key responsibilities:


  • Develops and maintains financial models to determine advisability and sustainability of global partnership activities and special projects in collaboration with Finance unit.
  • Leads budgeting and financial management/modelling and development.
  • Assists the AVP and Directors in establishing office management guidelines, organizing workflow of the staff, and recommend hiring of support staff.
  • Develops and documents sound administrative policies and procedures for ongoing operations.
  • Creates annual plan and build of org code budgets and overall Divisional budget.
  • Monthly and quarterly assessment and forecasts of department's financial performance against budget, financial and operational goals.
  • Completes yearend budget review and reconciliations.
  • Assesses and conducts studies, prepares reports and gives advice on feasibility, cost effectiveness, and regulatory conformance of long
- and short-range strategic plans, proposals, special grants, and ongoing programs to achieve Global Partnership & Education unit's growth and profitability objectives.

  • Oversees compliance with George Brown College Travel Policy and approval processes.
  • Develops a financial reporting framework to support decision making of internal clients; prepares monthly and annual operations reports and financial statements.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of the Division wide business systems.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience requirements:


  • Fouryear Degree from a recognized postsecondary institution in Business or Finance, preferably with a professional designation (CPA).
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in the creation and maintenance of financial or data models.
  • Experience in database management, and data analytics/statistical reporting is required.
  • Experience in business process reengineering and implementing and/or improving systems to support business requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating/leading projects, including designing or redesigning business processes, sub processes and implementing changes in computer systems/technology according to deadlines and budget.
  • Previous experience in successfully handling multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience in postsecondary education system and/or international education preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Finance and a strong accounting background. Sound knowledge of business and accounting practices.
  • Advanced skills using Microsoft Office suite, Excel, Power Point, and MS Project.
  • Experience with relational databases. Proven proficiency in using ERP and financial systems. Knowledge of Banner/FAST an asset.

  • Excellent budget management, financial or data modelling, and analytical skills.
  • Solid planning, organizing and project management skills.
  • Proven business sense and understanding of datadriven decision support systems.
  • Broad leadership skills managing a diverse team of experienced individuals.
  • Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
