Course Description - HCAR 40- Health Economics

Course Description - HCAR 40- Healthcare Systems & Governance

  • This course provides a foundation of governance knowledge tailored for healthcare system leaders, explaining how to effectively meet health governance responsibilities. Tools for developing decisionmaking competencies will be provided, and topics include components of the governance structure in a healthcare organization. This course will enhance the knowledge of learner in support of their professional progression in healthcare management.

Course Description - MNGT 40- People and Project Management

  • This course provides leadership tools to help manage, motivate, influence, and inspire diverse teams and individuals. Learners will develop and demonstrate competence in project oversight, from understanding and assessing project plans through to execution. Coursework combines communication and technical skills with strategies that will enable learners to model resiliency, inclusivity, and guide teams through change or disruption.

The Role:


  • Prepare and deliver lectures to students enrolled in the Healthcare Leadership program
  • Maintain and update curriculum and course outlines as required
  • Solicit guest speakers and industry partners to participate in round tables and panels
  • Evaluate student progress through assignments, exams and competencies
  • Facilitate student achievement and professionalism through mentorship and coaching
  • Provide feedback for continuous program improvement
  • Be an active and engaged member of the School to maintain a "team environment"
  • Participate in all SAIT training, School and program meetings.
  • Promote and support SAIT and the School of Health and Public Safety's mission, strategic and academic plans.
  • Remain current and maintain contact with industry sectors to assure technology is relevant
  • All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of a Master's degree
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive and diverse handson experience in both clinical
    and/or leadership roles in healthcare.
  • Proficiency with technology to facilitate delivery of classroom and lab content through the Learning Management System (Brightspace)
  • Previous academic background (including teaching experience) is a must
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to thrive in a team environment are required
  • Involvement is scholarly activity/research is an asset
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
  • A high degree of flexibility and adaptability to unexpected and changing conditions
  • Ability to function effectively in a team environment
  • Comfortable speaking to the public
  • Positive & respectful attitude
