Your Opportunity:


As a Mental Health Clinician on the Acute at Home team you will provide mental health assessment and risk assessment to young people who have been seen and discharged from Emergency or have been discharged from hospital.

In addition, this role will work in partnership with the Calgary Eating Disorder Program (CEDP), providing assessment, treatment, meal support therapy and case management to children who have been recently discharged from hospital and require in home meal support.

Hence this role will work collaboratively with both the Acute at Home team as well as the Calgary Eating Disorder Program (CEDP) multi-disciplinary care team.

You will visit patients and families in their home and your car is required.

Providing Meal Support Therapy with patients and families, as well as supporting skill building and coping strategies are primary responsibilities of this role.

The new position is a partnership between Acute at Home and the CEDP that will be temporary for 1 year.

Although this role will predominately work in the patient's home with families, depending on operational demand this role could support other levels of care as needed (e.g., outpatient, day treatment, and inpatient treatment).

The Mental Health Clinician is a pilot between the Acute at Home and the Calgary Eating Disorder Program (CEDP). The role is Monday to Friday, 7.75 hour shifts. The position will work a mix of day shifts (7:30-15:45) and evening shifts 11:15-19:30. This will ensure support for meals, such as breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. Interested applicants should note that flexibility is required as shifts may vary given clinical demand.

As a Mental Health Clinician, you will work as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team collaborating on the delivery of care for the needs of individuals, families and/or communities.

You will be responsible for the intake, clinical interviews and screening of clients with addiction and mental health disorders.

You will liaise with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively with other team members as required.

You may have the opportunity to participate in program planning, development and to provide supervision to practicum students. This position is open to Registered Nurses, Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Registered Social Workers, Registered Psychologists, and Occupational Therapists.

Required Qualifications:


Occupational Therapists:
Completion of bachelor¿s degree in Occupational Therapy and active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Occupational Therapists (ACOT)


Psychologists:
Completion of bachelor's degree in Psychology and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Registered Nurses and Registered Psychiatric Nurses:
Completion of an accredited Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing education program and active (or eligible registration) with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) or the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Alberta (CRPNA)


Social Workers:

Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work and active (or eligible registration) with the Alberta College of Social Work (ACSW).


Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years, acute care in child and adolescent mental health.


Preferred Qualifications:

Mental health outreach experience. Collaborative Problem Solving awareness. Completed brain story. Familiarity with trauma informed care and attachment theory. Experience with eating disorders and family therapy preferred.
