(EMC) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS) that manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport and the medical communications operations in Nova Scotia through a performance-based contract with the provincial government's Emergency Health Services (EHS) Operations division and the Department of Health and Wellness.

As well, EMC operates TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island for the Department of Health.


We access all communities in Nova Scotia in a timely and efficient manner with our fleet of more than 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating out of 60+ stations.

We respond to 165,000+ calls annually across the province, which are actively managed through the EHS Operations Medical Communications Centre, the hub of all emergency (911) and non-emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.


The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides even greater accessibility by responding to patients on scene or through inter-facility transports by our critical care team via helicopter, fixed wing, or ground ambulance.


In addition, paramedics in Nova Scotia participate in various programs both urban and rural such as community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations, to name a few.

  • Reporting to the Manager, Recruitment and Retention, the Recruitment Consultant provides coordination of the full recruitment experience, providing advice and support on all recruitment policies, procedures, and practices.

What you'll do


Responsibilities:


  • Ensure effective recruitment, transfer and hiring methods, position requirements, orientation, policy and procedures, collective agreements and job postings are all met accordingly;
  • Partner with hiring leaders to build effective sourcing, assessment and closing approaches while managing client group expectations through a deep understanding of their staffing needs;
  • Participate in special projects and coordinate recruitment initiatives that support staffing efforts and ensuring alignment with the organization's values, vision, and strategic objectives;
  • Forge excellent relationships with internal stakeholders and work strategically to assist in the resolution of staffing challenges and think outsidethebox to develop creative recruitment strategies;
  • Leverage external networking and professional associations to reinforce career opportunities;
  • Lead new employee onboarding initiatives to ensure a positive and welcoming experience;
  • Contribute to other recruitment activities from time to time, including job fairs, presentations, and related activities both virtually and off site;
  • Ensure fair and equitable hiring practices;
  • Facilitate international recruiting initiatives;
  • Regularly communicates with external organizations and professionals such as legal, EHS, NS College of Paramedics, Service Canada, Human Rights Commission, external Paramedic schools, and vendors for training, employee recognition and conferences.
What you'll need


Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary education with relevant education in Human Resources (HR major, certificate, or diploma)
  • Minimum three to five years' recruiting experience in full lifecycle environment, including management of multiple highvolume roles simultaneously;
  • Chartered Professional in Human Resources designation is an asset
  • Experience leading behavioral based interviews with hiring managers and guiding them through the process;
  • Social Media savvy and have the intuitive nature to seek new sourcing options and develop creative approaches to finding talent;
  • Detail oriented with superior followup and proven ability to multitask and adapt in a fastpaced environment;
  • Experience managing and prioritizing multiple searches, projects and client relationships;
