Position Overview
Fit and commercially weld material by manual or semi-automatic process.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks
- Read and interpret blueprints.
- Review engineering drawings and blueprints, coordinate with the Plant Foreman and Welding Supervisor to determine the materials, plan the sequence of tasks and processes/procedures required to cut and fit most metals efficiently, in general and/or project specific.
- Able to weld in various positions.
- Construct patterns and templates as guides for layouts.
- Lay out reference points and patterns on heavy structural and plate steels according to component specifications.
- Rig, hoist and move materials to storage areas and/or within work area.
- Assemble and fit metal sections and plates to form complete units or subunits using welding, bolting, or other methods.
- Set up and operate various heavy and light duty metal working equipment/tooling including but not limited to: grinders and drills, bevellers, fluxcored welding, oxygenacetylene burning torch, overhead/jib cranes, scissor and lift trucks.
- Operate other task related tools and equipment including but not limited to: chipping hammers, shields, portable power tools, rose buds, clamps, and wrenches.
- Install fabricated components in final product.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Valid CWB welding ticket, or in the process, metal core
- Valid AWS welding ticket, or in the process, metal core
- Minimum 4 year experience
- Legal status to work in Canada
