The Alma Mater Society (AMS) is the University of British Columbia's (UBC) student society, and works to improve the academic, social and personal lives of the 56,000 UBC students at its Vancouver campus.
The AMS also runs nine food and beverage outlets, a catering and conference operation, and the AMS Student Nest, providing on-campus employment opportunities and generating revenue that goes directly back into supporting the students at UBC.

Position Purpose
Responsibilities:
- Adhering to all AMS policies and procedures as well as other entity regulations such as Food Safe, Liquor laws etc.
- Providing friendly, prompt, courteous, professional service to all guests
- Assisting the Outlet Manager in exceeding sales goals through suggestive sales techniques
- Assist the Outlet Manager to manage human resources responsibilities including, but not limited to scheduling, training, briefing and developing employees.
- Supporting the outlet team as necessary ensuring all AMS standards and procedures
- Maintaining and utilizing all computer hard
- Assist the Outlet Manager to maintain daily, weekly and monthly records of cash reconciliation, revenue summaries, costing, monthend journal entries, and payroll functions such as, timesheet verification and submission
- Actively promoting AMS events
- Coordinating with the Outlet Manager and ensuring at all times that all outlet menus, POS, sales material and staff knowledge are up to date
- Working with the AMS mission statement and values to operate a successful department
- Other duties as required
- Supervisory or assistant management experience in food service
- Minimum Food Safe level 1 certification or higher
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to lift up to 12 kgs (26.4lbs)
- Ability to do shift work (daytime, evenings, weekends and holidays), on call
- Intermediate computer skills an asset
- Language: Required to speak, read and write English
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Leadership qualities an advantage
- Experience working with youth an asset
- Training given to enhance leadership qualities
