Reporting to the Supervisor, Medical Device Reprocessing, the MDRD Aide is responsible for collecting and sorting soiled supplies and instruments from hospital departments; operating machines such as instrument washers, sonic sinks, cart washers and steam autoclaves to clean, reprocess and sterilize supplies for re-use; and assemble packs of sterile supplies and instruments for delivery to hospital departments.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

High School Diploma or equivalent
Current certification with a CSA or MDRAO
Possession of a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and personal vehicle; ability to travel to all sites as required
Recent experience in an medical device reprocessing environment
Recent experience in Endoscopy reprocessing
Ability to carry out correct lifting and carrying techniques of items weighing up to 40 lbs
Excellent problem solving, decision making and organization skills
A thorough knowledge of instrumentation and medical/surgical supplies/equipment as it pertains to all surgical specialties
Availability to work all shifts (days, evenings, nights and weekends)
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to effectively prioritize work load in a fastpaced work environment
Ability to work effectively in a team environment
Ability to wear all required personal protective equipment
Commitment to continuing education
Ability to handle exposure to infection, noise, odors and work interruptions
Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
