About the Opportunity:


At Nova Scotia Health, the Project Management Office (PMO) Director holds both the leadership and management roles in the PMO.

The PMO Director is also responsible for various methods and practices around provisioning IT into the business, improving the overall PPM maturity across the organization, and tracking and reporting the conformance to plans and expectations of IT-oriented initiatives.

As an arm of the overall governance function, the PMO Director is responsible for supporting and enabling the organization's projects, programs and structured work efforts.

The PMO Director ensures that the work of the PMO adds value, is relevant to the strategy of the organization, and meets the goals set for the PMO by executive management.


About You:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with significant leadership experience.
  • Master's degree in business administration, public administration considered an asset.
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in IT and business/industry
  • Minimum of Five to seven years of leadership responsibilities
  • Minimum 5 years of Project Management Experience
  • Experience managing a Project Management Office strongly preferred
  • Extensive Project and/or Program Management experience required
  • Experience with one or more project management methodologies (for example, PMI PMBOK, PRINCE2 and agile).
  • Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the PMO vision, and inspire and motivate PMO staff.
  • A distinctive blend of business, IT, financial and communication skills. (This is a highly visible position with substantial impact.)
  • Effective influencing and negotiation skills in an environment where resources may not be in direct control of this role.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation, and/or organizational change management certification considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience in leading diverse teams
  • Medical and/or Health Sciences background considered an asset.
  • Certified Health Executive and/or Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS) designation considered an asset.

Compensation and Incentives:

$ $68.77 Hourly
