Job Summary:

the Job Coach - Grounds Keeping is responsible to function as a Supported Work team member and perform duties that are necessary to complete grounds keeping services.

They assist in supporting adults with diverse abilities to the team to perform the required tasks of the program.

The role of the job coach is vital in achieving agency goals and supporting individuals that choose Cosmo as part of their person-centered plan.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the Grounds keeping program by setting up and scheduling lawn care services with new and existing customers for the season.
• Ensure that services for customers are completed in a timely manner.
• Implement and review all safe work procedures and property safety plans.
• Maintain adequate records and tracking including scheduling and invoicing each month.
• Work along side program participants and provide the necessary coaching and support.
• Clean and perform routine maintenance and care of all necessary equipment.
• Prepare documents and reports as required by Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
• Develop and maintain a positive, professional work relationship with participants and staff to ensure a respectful and positive work environment.
• Crosstrain for other duties/positions as deemed necessary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Personal protective equipment is required e.g. steeltoed boots, safety glasses/goggles, safety vest, hearing protection etc.
• Works both indoors and outdoors
• Environment may expose workers to extreme heat/cold, paper dust, chemicals, diesel fumes, unusual/strong odors and/or contaminated materials/products; pet rabbits, birds and fish; visiting therapy animals e.g. dogs
• Exposure to volatile situations that have the potential to escalate to verbal and/or physical altercation may occur
• Works alone with program participants in the community and during transport
• Schedules may not provide for scheduled breaks

Skills, Effort and Competencies:

Must provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check prior to employment.

• Disability Support Worker Certificate or equivalent training in a related field.
• Considerable knowledge of use and care of motorized equipment and hand/power tools used in grounds maintenance work. Considerable knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions applicable to grounds keeping and maintenance work. Considerable knowledge of methods of landscaping and weed control. Considerable knowledge of the proper use of chemicals, fertilizers, and pesticides. Ability to lead, instruct, and train others in the work, including the operation and proper use of equipment. Ability to maintain records.
• Valid Saskatchewan Driver's license; must maintain a driving record that is acceptable to Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.
• Experience with lawn care is an asset. Experience providing support to persons with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
• Ability to comprehend and communicate detailed instructions both orally and in writing is essential. Consistent demonstration of dignity and respect when interacting with others.
• Long periods of standing, walking, ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 pounds is required.
• High level of independent judgement and reasoning ability. Ability to work well under pressure. Ability to multitask and establish priorities in a changing environment. Strong problem solving ability. Attention to detail.
• Must attain minimum mandatory training (STRIDE) during first year of employment as requested/required by Cosmopolitan Industries Ltd.

Pay:
$17.07-$20.12 per hour

Expected hours: 37.5 per week
