We currently have a
Temporary Full-Time (until approx. Jan 2024) opportunity for a
Unit Clerk in the
Odette Cancer Centre Ambulatory Clinics at our
Bayview campus.
**Hours of Work:
Weekdays:
Days, 8 hrs, as per schedule


Summary of Duties


In this clinic coordinator role, the unit clerk is responsible for the organization of busy outpatient clinics with multiple physicians, nurses and allied health professionals.

Duties include preparation of patients' charts, ensuring relevant information is available, assisting patients into exam rooms and liaising with other departments to provide support for patients and staff while in clinic.

Other duties may be assigned to support clinic functions such as providing relief and support services.


Qualifications/Skills

  • Required the completion of one (1) year of Community College; successful completion of Medical Terminology course preferred.
  • One year of Administrative/Business experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Proven accurate keyboarding of net minimum 40 words per minute OR 106 keystrokes per minute.
  • Proficiency with MS Office computer skills (Word and Outlook) required; with working knowledge of inhouse patient software packages (e.g., OASIS, Excelicare, etc.) preferred.
  • Proven ability to work with sensitivity and compassion with oncology patient population and their family/support people.
  • Outstanding customer service skills; patientfocused approach essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize and followthrough effectively, working at a fast pace in an unpredictable environment that requires the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Established excellent communication skills required oral, written and comprehension to obtain and relay information, coupled with proven tact and diplomacy in handling and dealing with confidential information.
  • Required welldeveloped interpersonal and team skills in an open work environment; collaborating and problem solving as an effective member of the interprofessional team.
