Requirements:


  • Completion of secondary school education is required and/or completion of a college program.
  • Less than two years of experience.
  • Experience as an industrial spray painter using conventional and/or airassisted automated painting system.
  • Ability to read hazard signs, and signs regarding the use of protective equipment, such as safety glasses and gloves as well as product labels and paint codes.
  • Ability to take readings on gauges, such as the gauges on electrostatic drying guns, and compare to operational standards for the gauges.
  • Interact with coworkers to coordinate work and discuss problems. Communicate with supervisors to receive or clarify schedules and to discuss changes in work orders.
  • Ability to solve problems, find inconsistencies, and decide whether or not pieces need to be sanded or washed before being painted. Prioritize job tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on several projects at once, preparing and priming for one project while paint on another project dries.
  • Coordinate activities with coworkers to share tools, equipment and work space.
  • Ability to work independently and work with a partner to move large pieces.
  • Ability to use computeroperated machinery. For example, may use computer time clocks that automatically calculate time spent per job when cards are passed through scanners.
