Position Overview
Scholars of Burlington North is hiring a Lead Teacher (OCT preferred) to oversee instructional quality and deliver structured, small-group academic support to students from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
This role is designed for a certified educator seeking meaningful leadership responsibility in a focused academic setting — without the administrative overload of a traditional classroom. High-performing university graduates (especially B.Ed candidates) with strong instructional ability are also encouraged to apply.
Classes are capped at three students maximum, allowing for targeted instruction and measurable academic progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver structured instruction in English and Math (Science and/or French an asset).
- Provide differentiated small-group instruction (max 3 students).
- Lead classroom execution and uphold instructional standards.
- Assist with student assessments and progress reporting.
- Mentor and support junior tutors to maintain teaching quality.
- Track and document student performance after each session.
- Reinforce study skills, organization, and academic independence.
- Maintain a professional, structured learning environment.
Preferred Candidate will have:
- Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) in good standing
- Experience teaching elementary or secondary students
- Confident teaching Math and/or English up to high school level
Also Considered:
- Bachelor's Degree holders with strong academic standing
- Candidates currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.)
- University graduates with proven tutoring/teaching experience
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year teaching or tutoring experience
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to confidently instruct small groups
- Professionalism, leadership ability, and classroom management skills
- Ability to teach core academic subjects (Math and/or English required)
Assets
- OCT certification
- French teachable
- Multi-subject capability (Math, Science, Language)
- Experience supporting students with learning differences
- Strong assessment and reporting skills
Availability Requirement
Must be available in person a minimum of four days during:
- Monday – Thursday: 3:00 pm – 8:00 pm
- Saturday: 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Priority given to candidates with extended availability and multi-subject expertise.

Job Type: Part-time
