Key responsibilities:


  • Develops and deploys campaigns and events in collaboration with library stakeholders to identify and meet outreach and promotion needs, with measurable objectives to evaluate success (e.g., raising awareness of library resources, new technologies, databases and services, user surveys, service fairs, orientation events, etc.).
  • Designs, produces, and or collates content (e.g., digital graphics, print signage, etc.) for ASLR newsletters, reports, faculty and student newsletters, promotional material, library facilities, video and online tutorials for research ensuring alignment with library branding and GBC's Visual Identity Standards.
  • Rolls out content to the library and/or the campus communication channels (e.g., newsletters, LCD slideshows, posters, social media, LLC website).
  • Arranges LLC events in collaboration with library and other stakeholders.
  • Interacts with vendors for signage, LLC swag and other promotional signage. Identifies and customizes LLC swag and selects the appropriate vendors for this work.
  • Maintains, updates, or creates LLC information on signage, and promotional material such as guides and brochures, posters, photos etc. or updates internal LLC documents such as service standards, policies and procedures, and LLC information on college wide documentation, and online locations (e.g., college handbook, LLC content on GBC websites, etc.).
  • Develops and maintains LLC shared space on intranet, or SharePoint. Leads SharePoint updates, changes, and redesigns as required (e.g., performing routine updates, providing support requests for page revisions, or creating and designing new sections, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:


  • Twoyear diploma or equivalent from a recognized postsecondary institution in Library and Information Technician.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in an academic library environment and in providing outreach, marketing, and orientation:
  • Experience with in-person and virtual reference service as well as searching databases, eResources and print material.
  • Knowledge of circulation and technical services.
  • Demonstrates experience designing and delivering orientation, library promotion and outreach.
  • Understands the use of tools such as the LSP, Discovery tools, Research Guides.
  • Welldeveloped written and oral communication skills and a strong customer/public service focus.
  • Has an understanding about marketing and communication to promote key messages and information.
  • Understands various marketing strategies such as direct marketing, marketing research, or strategies to learn about customer behaviour.
  • Project management experience including effective time management, organizational and problemsolving skills.
  • Experience in event planning for varied audiences.
  • Understands protocols for accessibility.

Skills and Attributes:


  • Ability to take initiative and to work well independently and in teams.
  • Able to travel between campuses on a weekly and/or monthly basis for projects, outreach, meetings, etc.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 kg or 44 lbs (i.e., boxes of books, AV equipment, etc.).
  • Demonstrated commitment in delivering excellent service to others as this is key in supporting the success of our students.
  • Flexibility in adapting to change and in participating in consultative decisionmaking processes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.

Interview process may consist of a practical skills component.
