    Reporting to the Director of Biomedical Engineering, the Biomedical Technology Coordinator will actively participate in the life-cycle management of SHN′s medical device assets. The Biomedical Technology Coordinator will assist with the capital equipment planning activities, support procurement processes, and collaborate in the implementation projects of medical equipment within the SHN hospitals. The incumbent will have advanced technical competencies as demonstrated through job performance and obtained through advanced training.

    Responsibilities:


    • Maintain appropriate level of communication and cultivate lasting professional relationships with all internal and external stakeholders

    • Actively contribute to the development and formulation of departmental policies, procedures and business cases, planning and management of new developments or changing services and their implementation

    • Proactively ensure equipment standards are followed throughout the terms of the projects

    • Monitor regulatory developments affecting medical devices and systems in designated area(s) and identify/coordinate implementation of appropriate compliance measures

    • Contribute to Medical Equipment Management Plan (MEMP) through effective use of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS); including data analysis, performance and compliance reviews, life-cycle management, capital planning, training and support

    • Support the continuous improvements of the CMMS database

    • Monitor medical device hazards/recalls reports and ensure appropriate follow-up (communication, corrective action, and documentation)

    • Successfully manage simultaneous projects with short timelines and challenging logistics

    • Interpret and prepare specifications for new equipment as part of RFP processes to assist clinical staff in making informed decisions on the selection, acquisition, use of patient care equipment

    • Participates in the capital planning processes of the organization. Take an active role in coordinating deployment of new medical technologies including planning, needs and priorities assessment, evaluation, procurement, installation, integration, and training

    • Regularly monitor new medical equipment and emerging technologies related to health care and keep the Department′s Director appraised of the trends

    • Provides technical support for the planning, and implementation of medical equipment and collaborates with the technical team, clinical staff, planning and redevelopment teams, and consultants on the projects

    • Ensure all planning and coordination activities are performed in a manner consistent with documented user requests and leadership direction

    • Update the input of new medical equipment into the equipment database

    • Develop and maintain active items list with follow-ups and resolutions as required

    • Maintain knowledge and understanding of all planned equipment and products

    • Develop and maintain equipment procurement schedule and installation requirements. Drive the procurement process and ensure all scheduled milestones are met

    • Coordinate the delivery, installation and setup of all medical equipment with multiple vendor

    • Create and manage project task lists. Produce project closeout documents. Ensure that projects are properly documented

    • Perform cross-function and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as required or assigned

    Requirements:


    • Successful completion of a minimum of Bachelor′s degree in Clinical/Biomedical Engineering or a recognized engineering equivalent from an accredited education institution

    • Minimum two (2) years of related experience required; new graduates are still encouraged to apply

    • Experience working in a hospital or healthcare environment preferred

    • Applicants with proven recent and related training and experience may be considered

    • Demonstrated vast knowledge and technical understanding of medical equipment and systems

    • Fundamental understanding of strategic planning, project management and process improvement practices, contract administration, and vendor procurement

    • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus and ability to work effectively in a fast paced, diverse/corporate environment

    • Well-developed team-building, conflict management, negotiation, and consensus-building skills

    • Highly self-motivated and inquisitive with ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively

    • Superior organizational and multitasking skills with ability to manage stringent deadlines

    • Excellent ability to recognize and creatively solve technical problems

    • Detail, action, and results oriented with demonstrated mature judgement in managing responsibilities

    • Strong computer skills, including reporting using MS Office (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook), Project, Visio, and AutoCAD preferred

    • Utilizes protective equipment provided and identifies and reports hazards
