AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY:


Reporting to the STEM Head Instructor, Recreation Programmer/Coordinator, Instructors are responsible for implementing a high-quality program that is stimulating and enjoyable for all participants.

Instructors are responsible for the safety and well-being of participants at all times.

  • Deliver highquality, safe, and stimulating programs for all levels of participants within the
assigned tier(s) below

  • Maintain complete vigilance while on duty and be ready to respond to any emergency situation
  • Provide a high level of frontline customer service, including greeting and engaging participants
  • Complete administrative duties in a timely manner (e.g. attendance, incident/accident reports)
  • Monitor the use of equipment and supplies, conduct inventory counts and restock as needed
  • Maintain a safe and tidy program space, ensuring equipment is setup and stored appropriately
  • Report all concerns, accidents and incidents to immediate supervisor and take appropriate action
  • Maintain an understanding of department programs and services
  • Understand, adhere to, and enforce Corporate Policies & Procedures, Confidentiality
  • Guidelines, Emergency Procedures and Health and Safety Standards for all participants, and staff
  • Attend meetings/trainings as required
  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION:


  • Require
    one of the following:
  • Information and Communications Technology SHSM or SciTech regional program
  • Grade 11 or higher Computer Studies (Computer Science or Computer Programming)
  • Grade 11 or higher Science (Biology, Chemistry, Earth and Space Science,
Environmental or Physics)

  • Enrolled in or has obtained a postsecondary Degree/Diploma in Robotics, Engineering,
Computer Science, Science, Bachelor of Education or Early Childhood Education


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:


  • Minimum one year of experience teaching various age groups is an asset

OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS:


  • Minimum 16 years of age
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Participation in Robotics teams or clubs is considered an asset
  • Current Standard First Aid / CPR C from an accredited organization, or ability to obtain within 1
month of date of hire.

  • High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development or Sport Certification considered an asset
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills
Tier - X01G02 - requires basic science/math understanding

  • Generic STEM programs under 14 years of age
  • Engineering programs for under 7 years of age
Tier - X01G04 - requires robotics or computer programming experience

  • Engineering programs for over 7 years of age
  • Robotics programs
  • Computer programming (drag and drop)
Tier - X01G05- requires computer programming experience

  • Computer Programming (scripts)
