    Lilly Canada is searching for an HR Manager/Sr. Associate - Compensation and Business Partner for a 6-month Assignment to lead the compensation reviews and decisions for the Canadian affiliate's employee base & provide business support to one of our divisions.

    Position Overview and Responsibilities:

    The HR Manager/Sr. Associate - Compensation and Business Partner is focused on:

  • Delivering Lilly's global pay programs that are designed to create a high-performing culture and be competitive with other large pharmaceutical and biotech companies who seek similar talent.
  • Provide HR business partner support to a large function within our Canadian affiliate.
  • HR Capability enhancement
  • Project manager – benefits review, SAP integration and Workday enhancements. You will have the ability to "shape" a portion of your role based on those special projects.
  • The selected candidate will be responsible for providing proactive, strategic compensation partnership, consultation, and expertise for all business areas of the affiliate and delivering competitive compensation programs and effective processes for all Lilly Canada employees.

    In this role, they will learn and understand organizational priorities and utilize data and analytics to consult with local HR teammates and maximize the use of Lilly compensation programs to achieve business objectives.

    They will provide direct compensation support, consultation, and market expertise to local HR team members, our recruiting team and affiliate leaders on all compensation programs (base, bonus, equity, and recognition). They will perform compensation benchmarking, including salary surveys and market reviews, salary programs development, consultation on bonus/incentive plan design and delivery and year-end process and tools support.

    They will identify opportunities to continuously improve the delivery of HR strategic support to the business and provide support to HR teammates as needed, acting as the Workday Champion for the team and management group, and providing HR data analysis and reporting on key metrics for the affiliate.

    This person will also work closely with other team members in the US and International Business Unit (IBU) compensation organizations to ensure Lilly consistently delivers competitive compensation programs that align to our pay for performance philosophy and that are effectively delivered to the organization.

    This role also supports the DigitALL team (Customer Response Centre, Business Integrity Office, Forecasting, Digital, Market Research, , etc). It requires the ability to collaborate effectively with senior leaders, manage data and projects, manage HR process for the DigitALL team, and identify HR interventions to support the business. Personal characteristics required for the role include leadership, the ability to deal with ambiguity, ability to analyze and manage data, ability to see connections across the organization, and good HR judgement and decision-making skills.

    Specifically, this person will support core HR processes including headcount management, employee survey data, DEI initiatives, and succession management-related data for the DigitALL team, and will provide support to the Associate VP Digital Transformation and Operations on various projects and initiatives as needed.

  • Qualifications and Relevant Skills:

  • 3 Years of human resources or relevant cross-functional experience.
  • A university degree plus the completion of relevant professional development work (general HR or compensation or other)
  • Demonstrated business partner skills with preference for HR business facing roles.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence line leadership and other key stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and strong communication (storytelling skills)
  • Excellent with analytics and details balanced with the ability to view situations strategically and make recommendations.
  • Ability to provide tangible yet creative solutions and results leveraging analytical insights.
  • Ability to lead change and manage complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of financial concepts and advanced analytical skills.
  • Compensation certification helpful, not required.
  • Excellent organizational and documenting skills with a strong attention to detail. Ability to learn quickly, adopt technology, and lead affiliate-wide projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within various functions and teams in Canada, IBU and global compensation office.
  • Anticipate needs and effectively consult with business partners internally and externally.
  • Challenge unit level leaders and business partners to prioritize and align.
  • Comfortably work with ambiguity.

  • Understand and integrate development with other talent management and HR related programs (Performance Management, Development plans, Career mapping).
  • Bilingual (English-French) written and verbal skills is an asset.
  • Additional Information:

    The position is located in Toronto and office-based employees are expected to be in office for a minimum of 4 to 12 days per month. flexible work arrangement are possible.

    All new employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of being hired by Lilly as described Lilly's Covid-19 Vaccination Policy. The requirement to be vaccinated is inclusive of any approved boosters, should they be deemed necessary in the future. Deadlines for boosters will be communicated through an updated policy as needed.

    This position is a short-term assignment with target duration from May-Oct 2024 (about 6 months)
