The Food Services Attendant I portions, packages and/or serves food items according to menu, diet protocol, portion control and temperature standards within an acute care or continuing care setting.

The position is also responsible for cleaning equipment, supplies and surfaces throughout the kitchen. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 41 Collective Agreement.

Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Must possess excellent interpersonal skills. Displays excellent communication and selling skills. Must possess high standards of sanitation, cleanliness and neatness. Ability to work independantly and as part of a team. Must possess high standards of accuracy. Displays superior eye/hand coordination, manual dexterity and speed for working on a tray/POD/dish disassembly line. Ability to remain calm and pleasant to patrons at all times. Ability to excercise judgement and iniative to satify customers/patients/resident requests. Must have time management skills and be able to plan for dealines. Must have excellent customer service skills. Displays high levels of honesty and integrity. Ability to follow directions and guidelines. Ability to excercise judgement and iniative when dealing with last minute changes and or requests.


Preferred Qualifications:

Previous food service and cashier experience in an institutional setting. WHMIS certificate. Food Safe certificate. Customer Service coursework.
