Telecon is looking for an energetic and career oriented individual to join our growing team as Senior Manager, Business Intelligence & Analytics.

This role is ideal for a leader who thrives in a dynamic environment, is passionate about building scalable BI ecosystems, and is energized by the opportunity to shape a team and a vision from the ground up. You will oversee a centralized BI team that partners with every business unit across the organization. Your mandate will be to build a modern analytics environment, grow team capability, and transform how insights are generated and consumed within the business.

This full-time hybrid position is mostly remote, requiring just 1–2 days per week in the office, and offers a flexible group insurance plan and company-matching RRSP from day one, and opportunities for growth and development.

This position requires fluency in both French and English to support French and English speaking clients. The role involves daily reading, writing, and verbal communication in both languages.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:

Strategic Leadership & Organizational Design

• Define the BI organization structure and capability roadmap, including phased rollouts and resource needs.
• Establish data governance for quality, security, compliance, and controlled access across all business units.
• Create a cross-business-unit governance council to align priorities and drive adoption.
• Track emerging technologies (cloud data platforms, AI/ML, modern architecture) to evolve BI capabilities.
• Build business cases and ROI assessments to secure executive sponsorship and funding.

Cross-Business Unit Alignment & Demand Management

• Implement a demand management and prioritization framework for BI requests.
• Hold quarterly reviews with business units to evaluate BI solutions and update roadmap priorities.
• Define and enforce SLAs for response times, solution quality, and support expectations.
• Translate business needs into clear technical requirements and communicate status effectively.
• Manage expectations across business units and make transparent trade-off decisions with leadership.
• Partner with IT leadership to align BI initiatives with enterprise IT strategy.
• Design and deploy scalable data architecture (e.g., lakehouse, medallion) to integrate data across sources.
• Lead evaluation and implementation of cloud data platforms, ETL/ELT tooling, and metadata systems.
• Establish standards for data engineering, including data quality, lineage, and metadata management.
• Optimize and automate ETL/ELT pipelines to improve data freshness and reduce manual reporting.
• Enforce architecture standards ensuring secure, governed, compliant access for business units.
• Oversee performance, reliability, and scalability of BI and data infrastructure.

Automation & Self Service Analytics

• Build self service BI platforms enabling governed report and dashboard creation.
• Develop data catalogs and metadata systems to help users find and understand available data.
• Implement automation for recurring reporting, data refreshes, and alerting to reduce manual work.

Team Development & Operations

• Lead, coach, and develop a multidisciplinary BI team (currently three analysts), growing the function over time based on business needs.
• Set clear performance expectations and align roles with organizational goals.
• Manage day today BI operations, workload, escalations, and delivery timelines. to day BI operations, workload, escalations, and delivery timelines.
• Provide hands-on guidance in early stages to stabilize systems, mentor team members, and model high standards for analytical excellence.

THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THESE SKILLS AND QUALITIES:

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, Data Science, BI, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
• Fully Bilingual (French/English) is required.
• 5+ years in BI, Data Analytics, or Data Engineering.
• 2+ years managing analytics or engineering teams.
• Experience building or scaling BI functions across multiple business units.
• Hands on experience with modern data architecture, data warehouses, or cloud platforms.
• 3+ years working with Azure/AWS/GCP and modern data patterns.
• Proven stakeholder management across complex organizations.
• Comfortable with occasional travel.

Technical Skills (Required)

• Hands on cloud data platform experience (Synapse, Databricks, Snowflake).
• Strong BI platform experience (Power BI, Fabric, Tableau).
• Familiarity with data governance, metadata, and data quality frameworks.
• Database administration and performance tuning experience.

Technical Skills (Preferred)

• Python or R.
• Knowledge of ML/AI integration.
• Experience with CI/CD, version control, agile methods.
• Experience with cloud security frameworks.
• Data integration platforms (ADF, Informatica, MuleSoft).
• Ability to interpret statistical data, perform statistical analyses, and translate insights into clear, compelling visualizations using modern analytics and data visualization tools
