Job Summary:


The CIO leads the Digital & Information Services Department, responsible for delivery of the information technology services that ensure our information and technology resources and investments enable our strategic objectives.

The CIO will deliver on the established roadmap to align the people, processes, data and technology required to achieve our Digital Strategy.


The CIO will maintain a unified IT strategy and delivery model across the Region with a focus on governance, innovation, and protecting the Region's information and digital assets from digital security threats.

The CIO will work closely with leaders across the organization to enhance the delivery and efficiency of services through digital innovation.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Establish and champion direction that focuses and aligns the efforts of the department to deliver on our Digital Strategy.
  • Ensure the reliable daytoday operation of the technology infrastructure and systems with a focus on governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Foster innovation and digital transformation throughout the organization.
  • Work collaboratively to develop an indepth understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the business and align IT initiatives.
  • Model behaviours and practices that support an inclusive and diverse culture and, a physically and psychologically safe and healthy workplace.
  • Foster a work environment conducive to learning, empowerment, continuous improvement and innovation; evaluate, coach and manage employees to enhance their professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with key partners to advance technology solutions including managing relationships with vendors and external partners.
  • Act as a change agent to generate ideas, build alignment and effectively present and communicate technologybased solutions.
  • Provide expertise in the development of policies related to information technology to align with transformational change and to protect the Region's IT assets and the integrity, security and privacy of corporate and personal information.
  • Ensure fiscal sustainability by monitoring and adhering to the annual operating and capital budgets.

Skills & Qualifications:


  • Leads with authenticity and accountability with ability to build trust, inspire and foster high performing teams.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a focus on helping others to grow, driving peoplecentered outcomes and promoting an environment of inclusivity.
  • Demonstrated business acumen to communicate with a broad audience and build relationships with a diverse network of stakeholders.
  • Robust strategic thinking and problemsolving skills, with the ability to analyze complex problems, identify opportunities, develop effective solutions and drive continuous improvement.
  • Financial acumen to develop, track and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent. Advanced management degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of senior leadership experience with proven experience in the successful implementation of transformational systems.
  • Broad technical foundations and experience with IT systems and infrastructure, governance, risk, and compliance.
  • Experience in leading and managing technical teams including solution providers vendors and integrators.
