Description
Responsible for probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems (process and safety), especially safety systems e.g. emergency core cooling, containment,) balance of plant, and plant operation and safety related systems.

  • Analysing of postulated accidents using stateoftheart methodologies and computer codes.
- perform reliability assessments and failure mode and effect analysis for the CANDU systems / components.

  • Develop fault trees and event trees including human reliability and common cause factors analysis and preparation of reports for Level 1 and 2 PSA.
  • Analyze internal events including shutdown, internal fire and flood, external events (e.g. seismic).
  • Assisting in the development of approaches to be used on safety analysis tasks.
  • Assisting in the development of analysis basis plans.
  • Document analyses in technical notes and reports, and present results at meetings.
  • Ensuring work is performed consistent with project requirement.

Qualifications:


  • A Relevant honours degree from a university of recognized standing in Engineering; nuclear safety analysis experience and/or background is a strong asset.
  • Must be conversant with computer environments; proficiency in WINDOWS environments is a strong asset.
  • Understanding of underlying reliability principles an asset.
  • Knowledge of statistics an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., must be able to perform varied work assignments effectively and respond quickly to changing project needs.
  • Ability to show initiative while working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work to budget and schedule.
  • Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops.
  • Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.
