Description

Responsible for probabilistic safety assessments of plant systems (process and safety), especially safety systems e.g. emergency core cooling, containment,) balance of plant, and plant operation and safety related systems.

Analysing of postulated accidents using stateoftheart methodologies and computer codes.

- perform reliability assessments and failure mode and effect analysis for the CANDU systems / components.

Develop fault trees and event trees including human reliability and common cause factors analysis and preparation of reports for Level 1 and 2 PSA.
Analyze internal events including shutdown, internal fire and flood, external events (e.g. seismic).
Assisting in the development of approaches to be used on safety analysis tasks.
Assisting in the development of analysis basis plans.
Document analyses in technical notes and reports, and present results at meetings.
Ensuring work is performed consistent with project requirement.

Qualifications:

A Relevant honours degree from a university of recognized standing in Engineering; nuclear safety analysis experience and/or background is a strong asset.
Must be conversant with computer environments; proficiency in WINDOWS environments is a strong asset.
Understanding of underlying reliability principles an asset.
Knowledge of statistics an asset.
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Ability to work well under pressure and be flexible, i.e., must be able to perform varied work assignments effectively and respond quickly to changing project needs.
Ability to show initiative while working in a team environment.
Ability to work to budget and schedule.
Must be willing to travel occasionally to participate in meetings and workshops.
Full commitment to working in a formal QA environment.
