Position Highlights
With the interest in electrification accelerating, BC Hydro is implementing a Call for Power and is in the planning phase to
support a series of future power calls in the coming years to acquire additional clean and renewable electricity supply to
ensure we have enough power to support the growing demand. This is an exciting, dynamic and growing function in the
organization, and a new team, Power Acquisitions, is being formed to support this work.

Power Acquisitions leads the planning and implementation of electricity procurement processes, working across the
company to understand the future BC Hydro system needs that require going to market to achieve; designing procurement
processes to meet these needs, engaging externally with First Nations, industry and stakeholders, to understand
commercial aspects; and ensuring an appropriate balance is struck to meet BC Hydro's customer needs in a cost-effective
way. This team will ensure successful completion of deliverables to support the current and future calls for power.


What you'll do

  • Design, manage, and implement consultation, communications and stakeholder engagement processes, working
closely with multi-disciplinary project teams.

  • Act as a facilitator of high profile, sensitive and complex meetings or consultations on behalf of BC Hydro.
  • Proactively respond to Independent Power Producer and other external inquiries, working with business groups across BC
Hydro.

  • Liaise with government, trade and industry associations, and other key stakeholders on issues related to the Independent
Power Producer industry that inform the development of power acquisitions processes.

  • Provide input on call design based on feedback received from external parties (e.g. Independent Power Producers) and
First Nations.

  • Develop and advise on methods to incorporate stakeholder input into BC Hydro's power acquisitions processes; ensure
external viewpoints are appropriately conveyed/considered in process design.

  • Lead the development of presentation materials engagement reports, maintain and update website, and frequently asked
questions

  • Manage internal communications as needed.
  • May present to various audiences.
  • Ensure linkage and coordination with BC Hydro Indigenous Relations engagement, and with other internal programs as
appropriate.

  • Develop and maintain strong internal networks and alignment with departments across the organization.

What you bring

  • University degree, graduate certification or equivalent in a relevant discipline (e.g. journalism, communications, public
relations, business).

  • Six to eight (68) years of experience in public consultation, project communications and issues management, or related
experience.

  • Experience developing and implementing communications and stakeholder engagement programs.
  • Knowledge of the clean energy industry and electrical utilities is considered an asset.
  • Experience supporting high profile and complex projects and regulatory requirements.
  • Highly agile, collaborative, innovative and resourceful individual with a focus on exceptional service delivery.
  • Superior interpersonal and listening skills with the ability to understand internal and external stakeholders' points of view in
order to build positive business relationships.

  • Strong engagement, communications writing, and public speaking skills, including an ability to take complex information
and communicate it clearly and simply.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility, build awareness and resolve conflict.
  • Ability to prepare concise reports and lead inperson and virtual public meetings.
  • Experience working with executives and all levels of an organization.
