We are one of the pre-eminent construction industry associations in Nova Scotia and we are looking for a great sales team member who wants to feel fantastic about the employee group health benefit plan solutions and services they provide and the good they do.

For nearly 30 years,
MERIT Contractors Association (MERIT Nova Scotia) has been the voice of N.S.'s construction industry.

Today, MERIT Nova Scotia represents non-unionized contractors and their employees throughout the region by undertaking policy research and advocacy focused on the construction sector and providing best of class group health and retirement benefits.

Role Summary

As a Business Development Executive, based in our Halifax office, you will proactively prospect and engage business owners and benefit plan administrators about our group health benefit plans and a growing portfolio of related offerings throughout Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.


You are a Nova Scotia licensed insurance agent (or committed to become licensed) looking for your next great sales career opportunity.

You are perpetually in motion, self-motivated and accountable for your sales cycle and your results; proactively driving new sales opportunities forward with the backing of great group health benefit plan and expanded portfolio at your disposal.

Role Responsibilities

  • Driving new group health benefits and group retirement placements
  • Providing custom offerings when the situation makes sense
  • Proactively prospecting new client opportunities
  • Secure appointments and meetings with prospective company owners and decision makers
  • Creatively address customer issues and suggest solutions and options
  • Work closely with our underwriting and national team on proposals and renewals
  • Consistently achieve new sales targets and key performance indicators
  • Communicate, coordinate and collaborate with team members to offer initial and long term local customer service
  • Maintain clear and accurate reporting and forecasting to the leadership team
Role Requirements

  • Nova Scotia licensed insurance agent (or committed to become licensed) and eligible to be licensed in New Brunswick with 3+ years' experience preferred
  • Must have means to travel in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick
  • Exceptional at building new relationships and able to connect easily in person or over the phone
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask in a fastpaced environment
  • Organized and resourceful, with a strong attention to detail
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a competitive desire to achieve goals and control income potential
  • Eager to contribute, learn and grow with an experienced and highprofile organization
  • Retirement solutions knowledge an asset

Salary:
$50,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
