The Role:

Are you a patient focused Phlebotomist with medical administration experience and excellent communication skills ?

KMH Cardiology Centres Inc. is recruiting for a Phlebotomist/Medical Office Assistant for our specialist practise in
Mississauga.

The Accountabilities:


The goal of this position is to provide an outstanding service experience to our patients by supporting Nuclear Medicine Technologists in clinical operations and service delivery.


The key accountabilities of the role include:

  • Coordinate patient care during Nuclear and PET scans including checking in, prepping, escorting to exam rooms, preparing exam or treatment rooms, answering questions, providing postappointment service and monitoring the waiting room.
  • Conduct phlebotomy to start patient IV line and assist Technologists with prepping patients for the exam.
  • Complete blood work, urine samples and patient medical history forms for patients
  • Answers enquiries by phone and in person in a helpful, respectful, and efficient manner
  • Maintains appointment schedule and manages recalls.
  • Maintains electronic medical record, including the patient chart. Performs tasks (including linking, uploading, scanning, faxing and referrals) in support of patient care.
  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and ensures that they are ready for next patient.
  • Ensures patient confidentiality and privacy
  • Interview patients and acquire the required past Medical History.
  • Assist Nuclear Medicine and PET Technologists in daily operations.
  • Clean and sanitize materials and instruments.
  • Performs patient prep procedures and document findings in the patient record.
  • Act as one of the points of contact for patients during their inclinic experience.
  • Ensure maximum patient satisfaction through a highquality service approach.
  • Help facilitate patient flow.
  • Respond to patient inquiries in a courteous and empathetic manner.
  • Build rapport with patients by responding to inquiries and communicate next steps to patient.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to provide and gather information, enabling patient requirements to be dealt with efficiently.
  • Meet and achieve performancebased metrics for the team
  • Responds to inquiries from Cancer Care Ontario related to PET scans
  • Assist with administrative tasks as needed

Minimum qualifications:


  • Lab Technician (certified)
  • Phlebotomy experience
  • Medical administration experience

Required skills and experience:


  • Proven ability to work proficiently in a busy fast paced specialist clinic environment
  • Selfdirected, detail oriented with an ability to multitask, establish priorities and achieve objectives with mínimal supervision
  • CPR
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superior telephone etiquette
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in technology including MS Office and EMR system
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Possesses effective analytical and problem solving skills
  • Able to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of diplomacy
  • Team orientation

This is a 14-month Contract role with full-time hours scheduled as below:

Monday: 7.00 a.m.4.00 p.m.

Tuesday: 7.00 a.m.3.00 p.m.

Wednesday: 7.00 a.m.4.00 p.m.

Thursday: 7.00 a.m.3.00 p.m.

Friday: 7.00 a.m.3.00 p.m.

  • 12 Saturday's _per month are required on rotation with the team.
The role reports to the Medical Operations Manager and is based at our Mississauga Head Office.
