Waterloo Minor Soccer Club provides tremendous soccer experience for over 2,000 youth and athletes.

Waterloo United in partnership with BVB Dortmund provides a world-class pathway for youth who want to compete in a competitive soccer environment with pathways to worldwide exposure.

Job summary
Overall leadership and management of Waterloo Minor Soccer Club.

Delivery of best in class soccer programs and experiences for youth, families, coaches and athletes aspiring to take the next step in their soccer journey.


Key Responsibilities
-
Develop, plan and deliver programs and services_

  • Monitor community needs on an ongoing basis, be aware of changing context within which programs and services are provided
  • Develop programs and services consistent with community needs
  • Monitor programs and services to ensure consistency with criteria established by funding sources and the mission and goals of the organization
  • Annually prepare and provide to the Board, and other applicable bodies, summary reports of programs and services, including recommendations for future improvement and change
  • Regularly obtain statistical and qualitative feedback about program and service delivery
  • Provide consultative services on bylaws, procedures, conflict management
  • Ensure that new and existing sponsors have their sponsor "benefits" delivered in a professional and timely fashion and that they achieve the expected value of their sponsorship
  • Ensure Privacy laws are followed and staff have relevant training

Manage the team_

  • Ensure appropriate staffing consistent with community and member needs and within the constraints of the organization's physical and financial resources
  • Develop and maintain the Personnel Policy & Procedure Manual
  • Develop and maintain appropriate job descriptions for all staff
  • Recruit, select, orient and train staff
  • Evaluate staff
  • Ensure staff are appropriately compensated
  • Ensure Employment Standards are adhered to
  • Monitor staff benefits and insurance programs

Monitor and oversee financial management of the organization_

  • Accountability for organizations financial stability and financial performance
  • Ensure development of annual budget, within the context of the Operating Agreement with the City, and present to Treasurer for evaluation and modification as required
  • Ensure ongoing budget updates and forecasts based on developments month to month
  • Strategic/Business Plan development, updating and monitoring
  • Deliver annual presentation to the Board based on results of the previous fiscal year compared to budget and goals. Provide recommendations to the board for each program for the following fiscal year with related budget projects and goals and objectives linked to the long term strategic plan.
  • Identify, prioritize and provide advice and counsel to aid Board in accessing potential fundraising alternatives
  • Maintain relationships with funding sources and prepare funding proposals
  • Create and execute a donor relations strategy to increase fundraising
  • Develop and execute a business development plan which includes a sponsorship sales strategy
  • Complete grant proposals

Implement board policy and decisions_

  • Act as a the conduit to the Board of Directors so that policy decisions are made on an informed basis
  • Gather, interpret and articulate information to Board about community trends and resources as they relate to enhancing the Board's capacity for effective communication, decisionmaking and longterm planning
  • Keep Board informed (on a timely basis) of significant issues affecting the development and delivery of programs and services
  • Oversee development and implementation of orientation for incoming Board Members
  • Provide guidance and advice to Board on process issues such as establishing and interpreting terms of reference, decisionmaking and accountability
  • Member of Organizational Development & Support Committee and Executive Committee. Attend and participate in meetings, assisting with materials and recording note/minutes for distribution
  • Grow soccer programs to increase community involvement in our core service

Maintain, acquire and dispose of physical assets_

  • Ensure that facilities, furniture and equipment are as necessary and appropriate to needs of the organization
  • Provide recommendations to the Board for any acquisitions or expenditures that are outside the approved budget
  • Ensure proper maintenance of facilities, furniture and equipment
  • As necessary, dispose of outdated or worn out equipment

Marketing and Partner Development_

  • Collaborate with Board of Directors and Directors of Coaching to execute all marketing,
communication and branding strategies

  • Ensure effective use of information technology for Club communications including appropriate platforms, integrated systems for onli
