Electrical and Automation Specialist


Primary Location:
Brandon, MB


Schedule:
Full time - Monday to Friday - 40 hours work week. Overtime needed as per business needs and training objectives.


Reports to:
Senior Electrochem Technical Manager


Compensation:
$86, $95,436.31 per annum

The US base salary range for this position is $86, $95,436.31 per annum+ bonus + benefits. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

About this Role and About You


The purpose of the position is to provide engineering support for electrical and automation equipment and infrastructure for the Brandon facility.


Qualifications
Knowledge

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical engineering. Major in electrical power systems preferred.
  • 510 years electrical engineering and power systems design and operational support.
Competencies

  • Knowledge of low, medium and high voltage electrical systems including transformers, rectifiers, switchgear & protection systems, harmonic filtering and grounding covering systems from 120VAC 138kVAC and up to 600VDC. Knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
  • Strong Responsible Care ethic and safety leadership.
  • Knowledge of applicable Electrical Safety Codes, regulations and standards applicable to Chemtrade facilities.
  • Ability to collaborate within a crosssectional team with varied skills and backgrounds. Strong interpersonal and team skills.
  • Good troubleshooting skills. Consistent drive to identify root causes and implement action plans to eliminate them. Excellent followthrough.
  • Strong written communication and documentation organization.

Responsibilities
List the major duties, tasks, responsibilities starting with the most important and using an active verb e.g. planned, organized, trained, managed, etc. Generally 6 -10 duties will adequately describe the position.


Operations and Maintenance Support
Provide first level engineering support for electrical and automation systems.

  • Identify improvements to electrical safe work practices and processes. Utilize external resources as appropriate to improve Chemtrade's knowledge in these areas.
  • Leverage and standardize best practices for electrical equipment maintenance.
  • Facilitate Qualified Electrical Worker training to Brandon electricians and foreman in accordance with provincial regulations. Provide electrical safety awareness training to operators.
  • Develop and maintain electrical safety procedures and records.
  • Support site engineering, operations and maintenance personnel in troubleshooting and repair of electrical assets.
  • Develop and leverage information systems to establish and maintain automated processes & systems to monitor electrical equipment performance & condition and to inform personnel of anomalies requiring management attention or operator intervention.

Electrical Asset Management Program
Support implementation of the Brandon EAMP in accordance with BRA-ENG-00- Lead equipment improvements and life-cycle documentation as assigned.

  • Identify and communicate gaps to continually improve the program.
  • Provide recommendations on required spare equipment and parts in EAMP.

Project and Contractor Management
Lead and participate in projects as assigned.

  • Manage projects within area of expertise. Lead safe execution of projects on schedule and on budget.
  • Provide discipline engineering and leadership for capital and noncapital projects.
  • Supervise external resources performing construction, maintenance, testing and inspections to ensure quality of work and safety of personnel & equipment.
