WHAT WILL YOU DO?
As a contributing member of the Governance and Legal Affairs (GLA) team; some of your main duties will include:

  • Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda
  • Researching legislation, directives, policies and guidelines relating to DCC, its business strategy, and its operations
  • Conducting comparative analyses on various topics of relevance to DCC
  • Assisting in reviewing contracts, agreements, memoranda of understanding and other documentation related to Company 1 (DCC's business), with a view to DCC's best interests
  • Drafting and assisting in the drafting of memoranda and transactional documents
  • Assisting in identifying best practices and proposed changes to key DCC policies, manuals and procedures to streamline future needs
  • Participating in client meetings and issue reviews
  • Collaborating with internal teams on various projects
  • Identifying potential national issues which may impact DCC (i.e. media, news releases, policy changes, etc.)
  • Researching issues pertaining to the Access to Information Act and Privacy Act
  • Updating training materials
  • Organizing document databases and managing case files (i.e. contracts, litigation files, potential problematic matters, etc.)
  • Participating in special projects and initiatives
  • Performing various administrative duties
  • Other duties as assigned

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Currently enrolled in a Common Law Program at a recognized Canadian academic institution and will have completed a minimum of two (2) years of studies
  • Strong research and analyzing data/information abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects and demands
  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Some experience in clerical/administrative support and providing customer service to internal and external clients would be considered an asset
