The Opportunity:
Barminco Mine Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for Trades Assistant to join our team at the Hemlo Operations near Marathon, Ontario.
Reporting to the Maintenance Lead Hand, the successful candidate will be responsible for their safety and the safety of their co-workers while assisting various Tradespeople who are performing mechanical and electrical maintenance underground at the Hemlo Operations.
More specifically, our Trades Assistants will:
• Assist maintenance crews by performing duties related to mechanical or electrical maintenance on heavy duty and light duty mobile equipment, or electrical systems underground
• Operate power tools and equipment as required; operate mobile equipment to transport materials and supplies
• Perform related duties as required
Skills and Experience:
• Minimum high school diploma or equivalency
• Demonstrated commitment to working safely while ensuring the safety of others
• Must be semi-skilled and have some knowledge of heavy duty, light duty mobile equipment and/or electrical maintenance
• Experience working in an underground mine preferred
• Be flexible and willing to assist with a variety of tasks as required
• Ability to learn new tasks quickly
• Strong communications, organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
