Responsibilities:


PRIMARY PURPOSE
Oversees and coordinates day-to-day administrative support to maintain and generate compensation and workforce-related information and reporting.

Ensures accuracy and compliance with policies, procedures and collective agreement in all transaction processing and administration.


Oversees efficient maintenance of the relevant HR system modules, and leads system audits to ensure ongoing integrity of related information.

Reviews all compensation and workforce administration processes and recommends/implements new efficiencies.

Supports compensation specialists on designated assignments.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Oversees and coordinates day-to-day administrative support to maintain and generate compensation and workforce-related information and reporting.

Involves transactions and records related to job evaluation, salary administration, merit and performance awards, market adjustment increases, seniority and service records, and employee change of status.

Distributes and reviews administrative work, ensuring accuracy and compliance with policies, processes, collective agreements, and any related regulatory requirements.


Oversees and coordinates administrative support for the job evaluation program and all related processes and tools for exempt and union groups.


Oversees and coordinates maintenance of the compensation and workforce-related components of the HR system, including all activities involved in the processing and storage of current, accurate information.

Leads audits of system-based compensation and workforce administration information to ensure ongoing data integrity.

Reviews all compensation and workforce-related administration processes and develops, recommends, and implements improvements to support operational efficiency.


Supports compensation specialists on designated assignments, such as conducting research to acquire information for compensation projects, and generating system-based reports.

Participates in projects and meetings, providing input and making recommendations from a compensation and workforce administration perspective.

Develops and maintains relationships with business leaders, staff, union representatives and outside agencies.

Provides information and guidance on administration policies and processes, and resolves related issues.

Oversees the work of Compensation Assistants, with emphasis on day-to-day guidance and training.


Qualifications:


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


The requirements for this job would typically be acquired through a Certificate in Human Resources, and three years of compensation and workforce-related administration in a unionized environment.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Basic knowledge of the concepts, theories, principles and practices of human resources, with emphasis on compensation and workforce-related administration.


Solid communication and interpersonal skills to explain compensation and workforce administration policies and procedures to others, and to exchange information and resolve administrative matters with union representatives.

Solid planning and organizational skills to coordinate distribution of work, and oversee accurate, timely processing of transactions.

Solid research skills and analytical skills to support compensation specialists on designated assignments.

Working knowledge of the relevant HR systems and modules to audit data integrity and create compensation-related reports.


Solid knowledge of standard office tools including word processing and spreadsheet software, together with knowledge of database fundamentals and use of HR systems.

Experience with PeopleSoft is preferred.
