ATCO Electric's Climate Adaptation and Reliability Team (CAR) is to reshape the future of utility resilience and reliability through fortifying our systems against the escalating impacts of climate change.

Reporting to the Supervisor, EMBR Program, this position is responsible for delivering and maintaining the activities that support ATCO Electric teams to prepare for emergencies and business disruptions, and respond/recover quickly, proactively, safely, and effectively when they occur.


Responsibilities:


  • Work within the standards, best practices, regulatory and client requirements that ATCO follows.
  • Facilitate, maintain, implement, and report on the readiness of ATCO's EMBR capabilities:
  • People assigned to Incident Management, Emergency Coordination, and Crisis Management teams.
  • Plans (including emergency, business continuity/recovery and mutual assistance).
  • Training & Exercises (including orientations and workshops).
  • Tools, Facilities & Equipment (including command/coordination centres and technology).
  • Information & Documentation.
  • Facilitate the conduct and documentation of hazard, risk, vulnerability, and business impact analyses.
  • Facilitate emergency exercise/realevent response activities, which typically includes:
  • Advice to Plan Coordinators on the requirements and conduct of their readiness activities.
  • Exercise design, conduct, evaluation, and documentation.
  • Participant and stakeholder engagement.
  • Emergency notification, situational awareness and communications.
  • Implementation of emergency/business continuity and incident action plans.
  • Activation of/participation in command and coordination centres
  • Support ATCO teams during real events, which may include deployment throughout Western Canada and nonstandard work hours (extended shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays), with little to no advance notice.
  • Debrief facilitation, production of reports, and implementation/tracking of corrective actions.
  • Answer stakeholder queries and troubleshoot issues regarding:
  • standards and regulations.
- hazard/risk/vulnerability/business impact analysis.
- emergency/business continuity plans, and associated forms & templates.
- training, workshops and exercises.

  • Incident Command System (ICS) training, forms and processes.
  • Incident Management, Emergency Coordination, and Crisis Management team setup and activation.

  • Represent EMBR and ATCO Electric in group environments, such as working groups, emergency response teams, learning activities, audits/investigations, and conferences.
  • Build and sustain productive working relationships with Plan Coordinators, Workforce Development, ATCO business units and corporate teams, external agencies, government, regulators, and service providers/suppliers.
  • Support the EMBR Program Supervisor and stakeholders with identifying and solving problems arising from any EMBR activity and realevent emergency response and be prepared to make recommendations on improvements to the EMBR program elements.
  • Manage and maintain the EMBR document collection.
  • Proactively update supervisor on issues and concerns that may affect job deliverables and the success of the EMBR program.
  • As part of team rotation, act on behalf of the EMBR Program Supervisor in their absence.
