- Lead the development of creative, engaging, and outcome-based program plans for all arts and special programming areas in collaboration with Camp Counsellors.
- Create structured program templates, lesson plans, and facilitation guides for staff, ensuring activities are accessible, adaptable, and age appropriate.
- Plan, supervise and facilitate arts and special programs for guests of all ages and abilities.
- Collaborate with program staff to organize, plan, supervise and facilitate special activities and events for guests of all ages and abilities (e.g., welcome activities, camp-wide games or events, evening programs, sunrise programs, pop-up programming, parent-centric events).
- Work with the program team to create program plans as a resource for activities and events and provide staff with adequate resources and information to facilitate these programs for guests.
- Ensure adequate inventory of supplies and materials is tracked for arts and special programs, and work with Camp Coordinators to purchase necessary supplies.
- Collaborate with the arts staff in the curating, planning and execution of all arts-based programming and activities.

- Ensure programming is engaging and appropriate for the age, ability and interests of the program participants.
- Ensure staff are meeting and maintaining safety standards in all specialty areas.
- Facilitate programs alongside other team members within your specialty area (and other areas if qualified and trained).
- Provide leadership to program facilitators, including supervision, coaching and support within specialty area.
- Promote and encourage participation in programs through endorsement of activities to guests.
- Provide clear communication to all guests, including program announcements and changes to programs.
- Assist guests in other areas of the camp, including dining room duties as needed.
- Take on rotational responsibilities as on-call Manager on Duty (MOD); respond to calls on the MOD phone during coverage.
- Communicate clear expectations to staff and volunteers about their roles before, during, and after the program.
- Maintain documentation of any accidents or incidents and provide this documentation to Supervisor, Camp Programs.
- Act as a liaison between program staff and volunteers and the camp management team, reporting pertinent information in a timely fashion and resolving situations in collaboration with the camp management team.
- During the spring season (April-June): set up program areas and ensure resources are available; assist with property maintenance to prepare the camp for guests.
- As a member of the leadership team, may be required to take on additional duties in other program areas as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Background in arts (visual, performing, music) is an asset.
- Event planning experience is an asset.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including patience, empathy and communication.
- Customer service experience is an asset.
- Ability to resolve conflict and take a lead role in emergency situations.
- Strong organizational, planning and leadership skills.
- Current (within 6 months of start date) Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Current Standard First Aid and CPR "C".
- Ability to work flexible hours in a changing and busy environment and work outside for extended periods of time.
- Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season (May-August) and be willing to share accommodations with other staff members.
- Enrolled in a Recreation and Leisure, Education, Youth Worker or equivalent program is an asset.
- Experience working in camp or other recreation programs is required.
- Experience as a supervisor or team leader is an asset.
- Experience working with volunteers is an asset.
- Outdoor work required; may involve exposure to weather, sun and heat, and moderate physical exertion.
- Respects the importance of confidential information while functioning as a team member or working independently.
- May require occasional overtime/flex time.
- Ability to work flexible hours in a dynamic and busy environment, with frequent interruptions.
- Must reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff members.

Position Title: Section Head, Arts & Special Programs
Reports To: Supervisor, Camp Programs
The Section Head, Arts & Special Programs oversees and supports the design, delivery, and evaluation of all arts-based activities and camp-wide special programs. This role ensures that arts programming (visual arts, crafts, performing arts, music, creative expression, etc.) and special events (theme days, evening programs, camp-wide games, welcome activities, and pop-up experiences) are intentional, engaging, and accessible for guests of all ages and abilities. The position ensures safe and engaging operation of the program area, with staff training and development, and acts as a liaison between program staff and the camp leadership team.
