ENT200H1F - Innovation and Entrepreneurship


Course description:

How do innovations become useful in society? What is needed for a company to use such innovations successfully? Why and how do individuals and companies commercialize new ideas or technologies? This course provides a broad introduction to entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial skills and the methodology used by entrepreneurs to start a new venture.


Estimated course enrolment: 375 Students


Estimated TA support:90 hours


Class schedule:4 hours of lectures per week, delivered online, asynchronous (schedule TBD). Office hours must be available as online synchronous and in-person.

Minimum Qualifications:
MBA or equivalent level of education and experience aligned with the course topic.


Preferred Qualifications:
PhD aligned with the course topic is preferred. Previous experience teaching a similar course at the university level. Previous experience teaching online courses using University of Toronto or similar online systems (e.g. Quercus, Canvas-based technologies, Microsoft Teams, Zoom etc.) is a definite asset.


Description of duties:
This course will be delivered online in the Summer 2023 term, with weekly (minimum) in
- person office hours (St. George Campus).

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a University credit course, including:

administering course in accordance with University regulations as described in the Faculty of Arts & Science Academic Handbook for Instructors; delivering lectures; developing syllabus and marking scheme; preparation and delivery of lectures; setting and invigilating term tests and final grades; supervision of Teaching Assistants; availability in office hours for academic counselling of students.

Each week recordings of lectures must be made available for students to view asynchronously. Office hours must be available as online synchronous and in-person (on the St. George Campus) at scheduled times.
