Position:
On-Site Events/Show Manager (Temporary)


Pumpkins After Dark (Lantern Events Inc.)

Swangard Stadium & Central Park, Burnaby, BC

Contract Dates: 2 month contract, September 27th through November 7th, 2023.


Objective:

This position will work in close collaboration with the Management team to execute and
oversee the event in its entirety.


Type of person:

be able to confidently manage temporary staff.


Responsibilities:


  • Liaison with venue and city of Burnaby contacts.
  • Serve as pointof contact for contractors (security, food trucks, garbage removal services, traffic
control, etc.) to ensure all event needs are being met.

  • Oversee all onsite temporary staff (approx. 30 staff members, divided into groups with an
assigned team lead for each group)

  • Checking in with team leads at start of shift to ensure all positions are filled.
  • Calling in a replacement for no shows when necessary
  • Follow protocol in response to medical emergencies, and security concerns.
  • Maintain a welcoming environment while interacting with attendees and staff. Ensure high
quality guest experience and handle any costumer complaints in a professional manner.

  • Oversees and executes opening and closing procedures.
  • Reporting for merchandise and pumpkin store recorded daily.
  • Daily "event day" reports delivered to management.
  • Available during setup dates to work closely with our team to learn how the displays operate.
  • Effectively anticipates and responds promptly to the needs of all attendees and staff.
  • Maintain knowledge of flow of events.

Requirements:


  • Event management experience is an asset.
  • Experience in a supervisory position.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Proactive and action oriented with an attention to detail.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Passion in the live event industry.
  • Must be available to work all event dates, this includes evenings and weekends.

Set-up dates:September 27th - October 4th

Event dates:

ctober 5th - October 31st (operating Thursday to Sunday. Additional event dates may be
added in this time frame)

Move-out dates:Nov 1st - 7th


For setup & tear-down, this position will not be required to be present for the entire timeframe, however they will be required for some of it for inventory tracking & display knowledge.

For event dates, shift are from 4:00PM until midnight.
