    What is the opportunity?

    In this role you will be responsible for supporting and managing events for RBC Technology & Operations "T&O" and the Transformation & Chief Operating Office "TCOO".

    As a Senior Manager, Events, you will act as the onsite Meeting Manager, Executive Producer and Technical Director for all selected T&O events. Managing internal and external RBC events, T&O engagement events, leadership conferences, meetings and employee contests on behalf of internal partners and executives, including communication requirements. As the Senior Manager, you will work closely with the Director, Performance & Events, Technology & Operations on managing, planning and execution of T&O wide events, including leading team members, event logistics and creating an exceptional attendee experience.

    What will you do?

    • Provide Support to the Director while managing various events the team is engaged with, including leadership events for the Group Head of T&O, as well as TCOO town halls, galas, engagement events, and meetings on behalf of internal partners.
    • Guide Event Coordinators, Event Managers, committee's and cross enterprise stakeholders to help lead, plan and project manage T&O signature events, such as Catalyst and other T&O wide engagement events.
    • Responsible for the implementation of event management needs and logistics for high profile T&O signature events as required. This includes but is not limited to: negotiating supplier/vendor contracts; event theme design and decor; production management, agenda development; leading committees and confirming members, identifying key objectives; logistical details as appropriate for each event.
    • Act independently in the creativity, design and management of selected T&O events including managing large budgets.
    • Project manage enablement & engagement opportunities across T&O through collaboration with business partners.
    • Lead the negotiation and completion of new and renewal contract agreements, evaluating and negotiating rights/rates/terms & conditions, presenting opportunities, options and recommendations to senior stakeholders/business leaders and manage the contracts through the legal and procurement process.
    • Communicate with internal business partners and internal & external suppliers in a skilled and professional manner.
    • Manage and oversee all supplier activity during events, including, but not limited to, event related video production, staging, facility staff and audio-visual production.
    • Create and produce event related communications including agenda creation, script writing, executive briefs, reports, critical paths, pre-event plans, registration, proposals and reconciliation of budgets and post-event summary reports.
    • Ability to understand, influence, negotiate and motivate Senior Executives and other partner groups is necessary to be successful in this job.
    • Potential for people management opportunities in the future.
    • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of the T&O Event Hub website and research, write and grow the content, including templates and tutorials.
    • Use your senior experience, to problem solve as necessary to ensure a smooth outcome.
    • Keep current on industry news and trends.

    What do you need to succeed?

    Must-have:

    • Application should be with a cover letter
    • Minimum 8 -10 years of industry and leadership experience associated with large scale corporate meeting/event planning (in-person and virtual).
    • Proven leadership in event management, organization and budgeting skills, prioritizing, project management, and multi-tasking to meet conflicting demands, with the ability to identify challenges and propose solutions.
    • Proven relationship management and effective verbal and written communications skills, strong customer service orientation, ability to interact effectively with senior level management.
    • Superb ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment, strong initiative and self-reliance skills with the ability to function autonomously.
    • Flexible attitude, teamwork and cooperation skills; collaboration, relationship building skills, sound judgement, diplomacy and discretion.
    • Ability and willingness to travel within the GTA area for various event locations/sites and internationally as required (will be scheduled in advance)

    Nice-to-have:

    • Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation
    • Technologically savvy, specifically with WebEx (Meetings, Webinars, Teams), expert knowledge of webcasting (Audio and Video), Video Conferencing
    • Excellent proficiency with MS Office Programs (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Word).
    • Undergraduate degree and/or Graduate degree (Event Management, Business Administration, Communications), preferred.
