***: Reporting to the Client service manager, the Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring overall cleanliness of the building which includes entrances, bathrooms, recreation areas, hallways, offices, elevators, and other common areas. The primary goal is to enhance the quality of living for the residents by ensuring that all Infection Prevention and Control measures and the required cleaning schedule is followed.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

  • Assist residents with housekeeping tasks such as window cleaning, carpet cleaning, scrubbing floors and bathtubs.
  • Sanitize and disinfect all the required areas such as common areas, elevators, residents' bathrooms, stair well, walls.
  • Keep housekeeping cart stocked, monitored to ensure chemicals are not tampered with and is stored away properly at the end of each shift.
  • Dust all applicable areas as required and empty garbage.
  • Participate in and promote the Health and Safety Program, report any safety issues or concerns.
  • Provide our residents with a high standard of efficient, polite, helpful and knowledgeable service.
  • Attend associate meetings, prepare to participate by bringing new ideas and improvements to existing ideas.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Grade 12 High School diploma.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a similar role is required.
  • Demonstrated experience working with persons with mental illness and/or addictions is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience working with seniors is considered a strong asset.
  • Advanced First Aid Certificate is strongly preferred.
  • Completion of WHIMIS and regular compliance with the program is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position will require working on weekends in rotation.

The individual in this position must have a valid driver's license and a reliable vehicle as travel between various locations will be required.


This industry requires empathy for and an understanding of the needs of seniors and requires a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check including a Criminal Background Check.

This is position is a fast-paced, challenging, working environment. The ability to be flexible to meet the demands of this work environment is required for success. This position works closely with seniors daily which requires a high threshold for patience and compassion. This work can be stressful, and you may encounter challenging behaviours including physical or verbal aggression.
