Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association is a non-profit charitable community services agency established since 1976. Our spectrum of services has grown from the delivery of Chinese meals-on-wheels service to a full range of community support services, covering the whole Greater Toronto Area, and York Region.


With a staff of 500 members (including full-time and part-time staff) and the help of a pool of 850 active volunteers, we serve over 15,000 clients a year, including seniors and the physically disabled; 3,000 of whom are "home-bound" and frail.

We are currently seeking a permanent full-time
Program Coordinator to join our Community Development and Wellness Team.

Responsibilities:


  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate social, recreational, and educational program activities to suit the needs of clients for continuous quality improvement
  • Supervise and coordinate the work schedules and activities of direct reports and volunteers by explaining regulations, providing direction, input, feedback, and enforcing safety rules
  • Manage the ongoing relationships and workrelated issues with volunteers and staff, addressing issues and concerns in an effective manner
  • Assist Program Director in providing updates, summaries, and statistics as required by the funder
  • Facilitate participant focus groups, town hall meetings, etc.
  • Provide training and inform participants on safety protocols and materials
  • Maintain knowledge of other agency services and programs to support other Carefirst programs/services, and external community resources
  • Foster positive relationships with other referral sources to promote service awareness
  • Identify and build services opportunities with services partners
  • Meet and collaborate with community stakeholders to develop plans for programs and services
  • Report, resolve, and document clients' feedback and/or complaints
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary Degree or Diploma in Social Services or Business Administration
  • 2 years' of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of community resources and services
  • Excellent customer service with strong interpersonal, communication, and problem solving skills to work with people at all levels inside and outside of the organization
  • Effective listening and coaching skills to provide feedback and guidance to volunteers
  • High degree of judgement and capacity to maintain confidentiality
  • Superior time management and organization skills, with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office and virtual video tools (i.e., Zoom), familiarity with CIMS and ComplyTrack is an asset
  • A valid First Aid & CPR Certificate, and Food Handler Certification
  • Proficient in English; fluency in a second language that reflects the community served, such as Cantonese and/or Mandarin, is an asset
  • Occasional evenings and weekends may be required
  • Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle for work
  • A valid vulnerable sector police record check completed within one year
