The Grant Officer is responsible for coordinating and/or conducting the review and submission processes for a variety of external grant funding programs, and for coordinating and processing the post-award requirements of external grants held by UHN Investigators.

As part of the review process the incumbent confirms eligibility of the Institution and Investigator and identifies, makes recommendations and escalates requirements pertaining to compliance with funder and Institutional requirements.

Working closely with UHN Research Institutes, Research Financial Services (RFS) and other Research Solutions & Services (RSS) Departments, Research Finance and Research Legal, the incumbent acts as a liaison between UHN Investigators and funding agencies, collaborators, research facilitators and administrators.


Qualifications

  • At minimum, a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a biomedical or related health science required; Master's degree preferred
  • At minimum, 1 year practical and related experience or 6 months on the job training required
  • Experience in reviewing and/or negotiating grant agreements with third parties as asset
  • Excellent computer/wordprocessing, database and spreadsheet software experience, in a Microsoft Office environment, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and internet searches
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to produce high quality work in accordance with UHN standards
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Knowledge of organizational/office practices, procedures and standards an asset
  • Experience working in a health care, scientific, academic or research environment
