Contract Position**
Summary


The Accountant will be responsible for the financial and administrative reporting, job costing, forecasting and day to day transactions to ensure that the financial objectives are met, and accounting procedures are carried out.

They will provide operational reporting as required for business leaders - monthly, quarterly and year-end close support. They will provide audit and tax filing support as required. The Accountant is able to discern information and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information pertaining to the company.


Job Duties

  • Prepare monthly financial reports, providing timely and accurate analysis of financial results and operating metrics
  • Preparing bank reconciliations
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the general ledger structure
  • Create and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and ensure monthly closing entries are set up and done correctly
  • Ensure compliance with local, provincial and federal reporting requirements
  • Responsible for accurate and complete accounting records and preparation of all monthly, quarterly and yearly remittances, filings, and obligations, etc. as may be required
  • Review and interpret financial statements and operations to facilitate management decision making
  • Maintain strong cost accounting controls through budget transfers, change orders, awards and settlements
  • Process invoices to ensure all necessary paperwork is received and all internal processes are followed
  • Analyze trends and historical data for budgeting/operational purposes
  • Assist with developing operating procedures and protocols, specific to accounting and document control

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting and finance experience preferably in the construction industry
  • Completion of an Ontario Secondary School diploma. College accounting diploma or University degree education in Business Administration/Accounting
  • Knowledge of accepted Accounting Practices and Principles
  • CPA or ontrack to obtaining designation is considered an asset
  • Ability to obtain security clearance

Salary:
$45,000.00-$75,000.00 per year
