Bioinformatics Solutions Inc., founded in Waterloo in 2000, provides innovative and industry-leading software solutions to fundamental bioinformatics problems. We are currently seeking a qualified individual to take on the roll of Quality Assurance Application Scientist.

In this capacity, the qualified individual who has the solid background in life science will be working with our team of talented developers to test, analyse, and maintain our innovative new software solutions.


Responsibilities

  • Work as a member of a small, agile team to help build industry leading proteomic software
  • Design and execute testing frameworks to ensure the quality and reliability of our product
  • Involved in developing and maintain automated testing suites
  • Assist in maintaining and monitoring our internal production and development servers
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to the development team to help improve software

General Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any of Biology, Biochemistry, chemistry, biopharm or related
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • A desire to learn new fields and technologies
  • Excellent problemsolving skills
  • Ability to rapidly learn new hardware and software

Technical Requirements

  • Understanding and knowledge of common testing practices, paradigms, and technologies
  • Experience working with Windows operating systems
  • Background knowledge of proteomics
  • Skillful in Microsoft Office.

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with bug and test tracking tools such as JIRA, GIT
  • Experience with Omics (metabolomics, proteomics, genomics, etc)
  • Experience with LC-MS/MS analysis
  • Knowledge of laboratory QA/QC and electronic data handling.
  • Basic knowledge in a programming language
  • Experience working with Linux operating systems
