YOUCAN Youth Services is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to empowering youth so they have the knowledge, support and skills to remove themselves from harm's way.

We assist young people in transitioning into employment or back into education. Our Mission is to engage young people to transform their lives by interrupting the cycle of harm.

We believe in a 50/50 attitude and approach when working with youth; we will work very hard for them, but we expect them to work very hard for themselves.


Job Summary


The core function of the Relentless Youth Outreach Worker (RYOW) is to engage and support at-risk youth in a process of change over time resulting in long term, sustainable behavior changes that allow young people to move out of their current negative situation and into safe and healthy lives.

The RYOW will work closely with team members, supervisors and other support workers to ensure that each young person is moving toward the outcomes of:


Responsibilities

  • Understand, practice and promote the vision, mission, and values of the organization
  • Maintain a caseload of 1215 youth
  • Build and maintain healthy relationships with youth, ensuring 23 intentional weekly contacts with each youth on the caseload
  • Work with youth's support team to plan and implement engagement activities
  • Communicate with school personnel to support educational success and advancement and with employers to secure employment opportunities and support job retention
  • Relentless outreach and followup with youth: on the street, in their homes, in the courts, at school etc., especially during times of relapse
  • Work with youth to create opportunities for personal development and employment readiness training
  • Advocate for youth needs with respect to housing, legal assistance, mental health supports, academic achievement, employment, etc.
  • Plan and lead restorative processes when appropriate: Circles & Mediations
  • Maintain contact with other supports in the youth's life (social workers, probation officers, teachers, parents/guardians etc.)
  • Engage in ongoing personal and professional development to increase capacity to serve young people
  • Document/log daily occurrences and complete reports on activities as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field of study or equivalent experience
  • Strong administration, planning and time management skills
  • Understanding of and experience working with atrisk, multiculturally diverse youth
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Capacity to think and act intentionally and strategically to help youth change behavior
  • Capacity for creative conflict resolution and violence prevention
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to work constructively and cooperatively in a team setting
  • Knowledge and experience with case management and data tracking
  • Proficient with office software
  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and planning skills in a fastpaced environment
  • A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
  • Flexibility with work hours/schedule as required for youth needs
  • Valid Driver's License with insurance of two million dollar liability
  • Completion of criminal record and child welfare check

Salary: $54,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
