Fort Garry Industries has an opening for a
Service Writer working out of our
Winnipeg branch.


This position is responsible for completing administrative documents related to our equipment sales and installation shops and providing support in retrieving and shipping parts from the branch or warehouse as required.

Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Open and close work orders for the installation of aftermarket equipment
  • Schedule appointments for the installation shop and provide customers with updates regarding their installation
  • Provide administrative support to the Equipment and Installation shop with documentation related to sales, service, and installation of equipment.
  • Contribute to managing inventory and ordering parts in a fastpaced environment.
  • Clarify technicians' parts needed for service estimates, repairs, and installations.
  • Track inventory, reorder inventory, and specialorder inventory as needed.
  • Assist the Service Manager in resolving discrepancies in inventory and the parts available in the branch or warehouse.
  • Obtain required information needed to place special orders and ensure that the correct parts are sourced.
  • Research the availability of certain parts, either within the branch or warehouse or from other sources as necessary.
  • Pick required parts from branch or warehouse inventory and ship to customers as needed.
  • Review and report inventory discrepancies.

Physical Demands and Equipment:


  • Handling of normal stock will include lifting or carrying parts in excess of 60 lbs. up to 15% of the time. Lifting to lbs for short periods of time. Majority of lifting and carrying will involve parts between 5 and 60 lbs.
  • CSA approved safety toed shoes required from the first day of this job. (Yearly safety shoe allowance provided)
  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be worn when required.
  • Fast paced environment with tight deadlines and shifting priorities

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in a Service Advisor or Service Writer role an asset
  • Previous experience in administration in a mechanical shop an asset.
  • Knowledge of heavyduty parts an asset
  • Functionally literate and capable of recognizing parts numbers
  • Basic computer skills (Windows, Chrome, Outlook)
  • Forklift operator certification and 1year experience operating a forklift an asset
