Duties / Responsibilities:


Responsible for the day-to-day organization and operation of the Residential Youth Homes:

  • Work in consultation with Manager of Residential Programs to select and facilitate activities aimed at achieving the desired outcomes as outlined in the operations plan.
  • Works with the Manager of Residential Programs to ensure that the program is in line with the stated mission and vision of the organization.
  • Ensures that the Residential Youth Home programs and activities comply with applicable standards and laws.
  • Participates on the weekly intake committee panel to determine eligibility and admittance to program.
  • In the event of a crisis or critical incident, exercises judgement and initiative in managing contact with management.
  • In conjunction with the Manager of Residential Programs, will share the responsibility for writing incident reports for serious and major incidents and submitting them to the Ministry within the required time limit.
  • Scheduling for both programs.

Team Leadership:


  • Provides direction to staff in terms of operations & programs, in accordance with the approved Strategic Plan of 360°kids.
  • Supervision of PT/ relief staff with possible supervision of FT staff.
  • Ensures that appropriate policies, procedures, and methods are being utilized.
  • Communicates the mission, values of 360°kids to employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Along with the Manager of Residential Programs, provides leadership for the program through team building and motivation of employees, manages for high performance and oversees plans for the training, development, and retention of staff to ensure ongoing competent, experienced, and effective management of the programs.
  • In consultation with the Manager of Residential Programs hires and terminates staff for all program positions. Recruits and supervises volunteers and students.
  • Participates in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisal meetings on a semiannual basis. Facilitates regular staff meetings to ensure effective communication and training is provided consistently.
  • Work with 360 ̊staff to ensure program(s) success while positively contributing to organizational needs.
  • Develop and facilitate/encourage an organizational culture conducive to the achievement of 360°kids' goals and objective.

Reporting and Other Activities:


  • Provides reports and related information as required to the Manager of Residential Programs, other designated organizations, and appropriate regulatory agencies and ensures staff completes mandatory recording and reporting.
  • Provides oncall support on a biweekly rotational basis with the Assistant Team Lead, Residential Youth Homes.
  • Attends training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the role.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS OR SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Post-Secondary degree/diploma Child/youth related field (e.g. Child and Youth, Social Service Worker, Social Worker, Psychology, Sociology) or the equivalent combination of education and experience working with youth.
  • Minimum of three years' experience working with "atrisk" or street involved youth, plus at least one year supervisory or management experience.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification an asset.
  • Current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check).
  • Car and valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Leadership skills, including motivation, delegation, coaching/mentoring and empowerment and the ability to motivate staff.
  • Demonstrated extensive knowledge of working with youth, including understanding of the regulatory environment (e.g. CFSA).
  • Demonstrated client focused counselling skills and role modelling.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, negotiation, and conflict resolution.
  • Will possess a broad knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
  • Relationship building and management skills, to support relationships with peers, staff, partners and ministry officials and other stakeholders.
