JOB OVERVIEW
The Housekeeper reports directly to the Deputy Director at Jessie's House.

The Housekeeper provides a welcoming, safe, and clean home environment for the residents and families who stay at Jessie's House.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To provide a welcoming, safe, and clean home environment for the resident and families we serve in accordance with established Shelter Policy and Procedures and governed by Provincial Health and Safety regulations


Participate in the ongoing development of a comprehensive routine of daily, weekly, and monthly household chores to ensure a clean, comfortable, and organized home which meets Shelter Policy and Procedure, and Alberta Health requirements.


General

  • Respond sensitively to clients, emotional and physical needs
  • Report health and safety concerns to the Deputy Director and or Executive Director
  • Complete general cleaning duties in accordance with the established cleaning schedule and task lists
  • Launder and organize the kitchen and house laundry
  • Perform general cleanup of all common areas of the building as directed; wash and sanitize toilets, sinks, showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap, toilet paper, towels etc.)
  • Wipe down mirrors, windows, doors/door handles regularly, stair wells
  • Sweep, wash and maintain floors
  • Maintain a high degree of safety, security, and confidentiality at all times
  • Perform other related work as assigned by the Deputy Director and Executive Director

Shared Responsibilities

  • Participate in the ongoing development of a comprehensive routine of daily, weekly, and monthly household chores to ensure a clean, comfortable, and organized home which meets Policy and Procedure, and Alberta Health requirements
  • Report and update plans with team members to the Deputy Director and or Executive Director
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings and training
  • Ensure all storage areas are organized and meet Provincial Health and safety standards
  • Clean client's rooms and bathrooms as required, and report needed repairs to the Facility Maintenance Technician

Facility Related

  • Maintain a high degree of safety, security, and confidentiality at all times
  • Support coworkers in the implementation of all other programs, as requested by the Executive Director or Deputy Director
  • Adheres to agency policies and procedures, including the principles of harm reduction, antioppression, decolonization, and traumainformed care.
The Housekeeper will also complete all other duties as assigned by the Deputy Director and Executive Director.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Grade 12 High School Diploma with related experience
  • Janitorial experience is an asset
  • Experience in residential program setting is an asset
  • General knowledge with Microsoft Office 36
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fastpaced team environment, with many interruptions
  • Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
  • Experience working with diverse and multicultural communities
  • Understanding of trauma informed care
  • Criminal Record Check
  • Children's Services Intervention Check
  • Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
  • Valid Driver's License, current Driver's Abstract

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Hours of Work, Monday-Sunday, flexible to complete 24 hours includes some evenings, weekends and statutory holidays as required
  • Requirement to work in a busy, noisy environment with many interruptions
  • Physical requirements include moving furniture, bending, reaching, lifting objects, navigating stairs, shoveling snow, lifting groceries,
  • Requirement to handle unpleasant situations, including cleaning up bodily fluids
We offer holiday pay and a generous benefits package. Salary is commensurate with experience.
