Position Overview


A Merchandising Coordinator plays a crucial role in the retail industry, ensuring that products are effectively presented, promoted, and available to customers.

This is a fully remote position that will require some limited travel. _


Main Responsibilities:


Inventory Management:


  • Monitor and manage inventory purchases, store details, and sales reporting.

Product Presentation:


  • Provide product display information and signage to stores to attract customer attention and maximize sales.
  • Ensure that merchandise is accurately priced and labelled.

Promotions and Pricing:


  • Collaborate with POS/marketing teams to plan and execute promotions and pricing programs.
  • Implement markdown strategies to clear excess inventory.
  • Monitor and analyze the effectiveness of promotions and pricing.

Vendor Relations:


  • Coordinate programs with all team members and stores.
  • Communicate any vendor changes, updates, and shipping information via support for stores.
  • Manage vendor profiles and keep up to date and live on the internal portal.

Data Analysis:


  • Analyze sales data and trends to identify opportunities and challenges.
  • Generate reports on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to merchandising.
  • Use data to make informed decisions and recommendations.

Communication and Coordination:


  • Work closely with crossfunctional teams, including marketing, sales, and operations.
  • Communicate merchandising strategies and goals to relevant stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with store managers to implement merchandising plans at the retail level.
  • Manage a run list of participating stores and manage with central teams and vendors.

Market Research:


  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences.
  • Conduct market research to identify new product opportunities and potential gaps in the assortment.

Compliance and Standards:


  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards.
  • Monitor product quality and adherence to specifications.
  • Manage government compliance on resale items.
  • Ensure communication is provided to stores on any recalls, government regulations, and others.

Training and Support:


  • Provide support and guidance to store teams in implementing merchandising plans.
  • Train support staff and store teams where needed.

Problem Resolution:


  • Address and resolve issues related to merchandising.
  • Implement corrective actions as needed.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in business administration or an equivalent combination of related education and retail experience.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office specifically Excel and PowerPoint
  • 2 to 4+ years of administrative work experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work within a team as well as crossfunctional departments.
  • Excellent organizational skills and time management skills.
  • Adapts to change in a fastpaced environment.
  • Product/lifestyle knowledge is considered an asset.
