Forestry, Parks and Tourism is responsible for growing our manufactured wood products and forestry sector, preserving and managing our public lands and provincial parks and supporting our vibrant tourism industry.


Role:


Are you a skilled and analytical professional who loves working with numbers? Do you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy managing complex financial systems? We're looking for a talented Revenue Analyst to join our team at Forestry, Parks and Tourism.

As our Revenue Analyst, you'll play a critical role in the forestry industry by analyzing forest revenue and ensuring that all timber royalty accounts are processed with accuracy and efficiency.

You'll be responsible for developing and maintaining timber revenue processes, clarifying and interpreting acts and regulations, and managing external stakeholder timber royalty charges for timber products harvested from crown land.

You'll collaborate with field personnel and other FSTB staff to ensure that all dispositions adhere to the existing regulatory framework and relevant approved forest management plans and scaling approvals.


Core Responsibilities:

Timber Royalty Assessment:This involves accurately calculating timber royalty payments, ensuring compliance with regulations, and reconciling payments with production data. The analyst also prepares response letters, resolves account balances, and participates in annual audits.

Timber Permit and License Management:The analyst receives and prepares legal documents related to the issuance of permits and licenses. They track and monitor the lifecycle of these documents and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Support:The analyst provides support to internal and external stakeholders, including answering inquiries related to royalty assessments, regulations, and policies. They also review guidelines and recommend improvements to client service and training manuals.

Process Improvement:The analyst participates in the planning, development, and improvement of team processes and systems. They recommend enhancements and participate in acceptance testing of new systems.

Leadership: The analyst provides training and support to junior analysts and takes a leadership role in offering guidance and instruction to department staff.

To be successful in this role, you'll need to be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You'll also need to have a strong analytical mind and be comfortable working with sensitive and confidential data.

You'll be instrumental in leading change management processes to help define business needs and solutions, and you'll work collaboratively with other departments to identify issues and develop immediate and long-term solutions.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirement:

High school diploma and four years of related experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Mandatory understanding of applicable legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to work with automated systems, including FOREST and CARS
  • Ability to prioritize work and produce quality deliverables in a timely manner
  • Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience._

Assets:


  • Familiarity with Alberta's fiscal framework, forestryrelated policies, and regulatory regimes
  • Knowledge of Alberta's forest tenure system and forest industry
  • Awareness of Agriculture and Forestry's strategic priorities
  • Strong analytical and research skills
  • Extensive knowledge of timber royalty business and industry processes
  • Behavioral competencies, including commitment to teamwork, leadership abilities, and professionalism
  • Ability to identify and proactively address issues
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills
