What We Need:


As a visionary, creative, self-directed leader, you are an experienced professional with leadership experience including project management and people management within an inter-professional team and are adaptable and responsive to change.

By supporting and overseeing the work of the Practice Based Education portfolio, your work will include academic advancement and knowledge translation development, quality management, utilization, financial and human resources management as well as team education and enhancement.

You will serve as a role model in the strategic planning, program development and maintenance of an organizational culture that ensures support and commitment to the vision, mission and goals of the program and the organization.


Reporting to the Director of Interprofessional Practice and Education, the Manager of Practice Based Education will support and oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of profession-specific and interprofessional education standards at the program level and across Oak Valley Health.

You are someone with a demonstrated track record of leadership skills who collaborates with other site and other nursing education and allied health leaders to ensure that standards are aligned and integrated across programs and organization wide.

You will execute and be accountable for various project management responsibilities which support structure and process standards including policies and procedures and corporate goals and objectives.

In addition, you will be responsible to develop and support our dynamic programs, lead and participate in quality improvement and change initiatives, and develop capacity for staff growth to meet present and future program needs including promote a vision of academic excellence, integrating practice-based education and point-of-care research capacity.


Key Responsibilities:

Supporting and partnering with the Director of Interprofessional Practice and Education to develop and implement care process changes, develop standards of work, inform organization-wide care delivery models, and deliver on practice-based education priorities, your key accountabilities will include:

  • Manage/support the learner experience including; learner onboarding; supporting positive learning environments; managing evaluation of learner experience; managing Practice Based Education portfolio staff and budget
  • Responsible for the overall management of academic affiliations, education, interprofessional practice, employee competency development and ethics across the facility.
  • Manage education projects (development, implementation, evaluation and oversight)
  • Manage academic partnerships related to education
  • Support interprofessional education (IPE) initiatives
  • Foster & support education scholarship
  • Mentorship of diverse staff and learners
  • This role also acts as a mentor and role model for clinical educators, advance practice nurses, and other professional staff.
  • Develops, implements, leads, and evaluates processes and programs that support optimal patient care
  • Makes recommendations with regard to policies and procedures, quality assurance, research, evaluation and professional development issues that affect the interprofessional team
  • Ensure processes are in place to enable all employed health professionals to abide by regulatory requirements and standards outlined by professional organizations.
  • Maintain strong linkages with clinical programs across Oak Valley Health
  • Represents Professional Practice and Education program, as a member or chair of internal and external comm
