Summary


The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking a Human Resources Manager for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team's work to keep Canada moving forward.


Reporting to the Sr Director of Regulatory Compliance & Administration, the Human Resources Manager will lead the talent acquisition process, analyze trends in compensation and benefits, create learning and development programs, and ensuring compliance with federal, provincial employment laws & regulations, including occupational health & safety and human rights legislation.

Additionally, this position will provide the leadership team with expert guidance on performance management, employee relations, employee engagement, diversity-equity-inclusion, policy & procedure development, and HR compliance.

What you'll be doing

  • Works with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization's human resource and talent strategy as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning; which will include developing recruitment methodologies as well as ensuring ongoing talent availability as departmental needs arise
  • Provides support and guidance to HR coordinators, management, and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise
  • Administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations
  • Manages the talent acquisition process, including recruitment, and assisting with interviewing, and hiring qualified job applicants
  • Analyze trends in compensation and benefits; researches and proposes competitive base incentive pay programs to ensure the organization attracts and retains top talent
  • Creates learning and development programs and initiatives that provide internal development opportunities for employees
  • Monitor and provide guidance to ensure a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Oversees employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations
  • Maintains compliance with federal, provincial, and local employment laws & regulations including occupational health and safety and human rights legislation, as well as ensuring policies and practices are sufficient to maintain compliance
  • Maintains knowledge trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law
  • Supervises the Office Coordinator in the discharge of responsibilities for the dayto day operation of the organization's work locations in multiple jurisdictions
  • Other duties as required

You'll need to have

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required
  • A minimum of three years of human resource management experience preferred
  • Thorough knowledge of employmentrelated laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in both of Canada's official languages
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with budget preparation and management
  • Selfstarter, able to handle multiple projects at a time
  • Proficient with MS Office, ADP WFN, and preferred if prior experience with MS Dynamics

Your working conditions

  • Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives
  • May be required to work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace, with the need to balance short deadlines and competing priorities
  • Ottawa based occasional travel within Canada may be required
  • Permanent, Fulltime position
