We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Medical Office Assistant to join our otolaryngologist office.As a Medical Office Assistant, you will be responsible for providing administrative support to the otolaryngologist and other healthcare professionals in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors, answer phone calls, and schedule appointments.
- Input and book incoming referrals in a timely manner.
- Obtain and verify patient information, including medical history and insurance coverage.
- Prepare patient charts and medical records for the otolaryngologist's review.
- Assist the otolaryngologist with patient examinations and treatments as needed.
- Perform basic medical procedures such as taking vital signs and administering medications under the direction of the otolaryngologist.
- Manage and maintain office inventory, including ordering and restocking medical supplies.
- Prepare and process medical billing and insurance claims.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
- Handle patient inquiries and follow up on test results as directed by the otolaryngologist.
- Perform other administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and faxing.
- Regularly clean medical equipment according to procedures; autoclaving.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree in medical assisting or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, EMR systems, and medical billing software.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
